Official 390DA Thread

Thank you Rich. Looking forward to seeing your setup.

I plan to have the boat surveyed, next Friday. I’m hoping nothing major comes up. However, I have a mild concern about the bilge compartments in the cabin having evidence of water in them at some point. This in itself isn’t overly concerning, however what was concerning was the epoxy seemed to be delaminating, or flaking off the fiberglass. This was the case in the 2 center compartments, the rear compartment, and it was also in the anchor locker too. I know leaky windows, deck fittings, even shower lines or ac lines can lead to water in the center bilge. However, none of these would explain the epoxy delaminating in the anchor locker.

I’ll make sure the surveyor looks for any evidence of a sinking or structural repairs. But maybe this is a function of bad epoxy from the factory and nothing more.

HAS Any one with a 390/40 DA go to, all chain anchor line for ballast ? What are the results , is it worth the trouble . Also at wake speed or sitting in the dock does the bow drag/plow through the water ?? At this point I would only change for the ballast. I now have 30ft chain and 200 ft of line . The boat planes great with out tabs but is bow high , at 3800 rpm it comes down more the I tab it , to get at a better sight line

2005 390 Sundancer. Has anyone replaced the hatch on the hard top? If so which hatch did you buy?

I closed on a 05 390 with Cummins 5.9s. My family and I are very excited. In the coming weeks, I plan to run her home, up to Long Island from Charleston. I’d like to change the raw water hoses first (starboard side is leaking and the rest look bad). I’ll also change the Raycors as well as the engine and trans oil and filters. And the belts on the motors too.

Since I’m not near the boat, would anyone be able to confirm the diameter of the raw water hoses that run from the seacocks to the strainer, to the motors. If anyone knows how much length I’d need, that would be a huge help. It appears the starboard side is much longer than the port side.

If anyone has a place they like to order filters, please share as well as what gear oil and engin oil you’ve been using. I was planning on Rotella 40w for the motors, but wondering what others use.

Has anybody with a 390/40 , 420 replaced thier Weaco Freezer unit
with a NOVAKOOL !! ?? Novakool 2.4 cu , F2600 fits perfect and the existing hole but novakool does not sell/make a flush mount kit for this unit , so now my freezer sticks out about 2 inches or the width of the door, Has anybody tried being creative to get this particular unit to flush mount ??

FILLER CUSHION FOR SALON COUCH to sleeper conversion
Do you have one where’s it located ? The parts manual show a long thin filler , or do you use the couch/seat back ??
I know you use the seat back in the aft cabin , BUT this is the salon I’m talking about

The fillers for mine were in the storage area under the couch. Although when my daughter slept on the couch we pulled it out about 3/4 of the way and we didn’t use the filler and she had plenty of room.

In case anyone else needs to tackle this project... You will need exhaust hoses with a 2” inner diameter. I Purchased 17 feet, and had some left over. I probably could have been ok with 15 feet too.
I can’t confirm, but I think the boats with 8.1’s have a different hose diameter.

I ended up buying the hose locally and all the maintenance stuff (belts, filters, zincs, etc) from Seaboard marine https://www.sbmar.com/ they were very helpful and shipped quickly.
I used Rotella T4 15-40 for the motors and Dextron 3 for the transmissions. As noted above this is for a boat with QSB 5.9’s.

Can anyone tell me we’re the light switch is for the separate shower ??
Thanks

I noticed that my Reversco pump is only hooked up to my port motor. The pump itself is a 3 port/valve pump and it's labeled "Port", "Generator", and "Starboard". However the port valve is to the port motor, the starboard valve is hooked up to the port transmission and the generator valve is hooked up to the generator.

Oddly, the starboard motor has a line coming off the oil pan and a line coming off the transmission. However each of those lines is pugged with a cap. Dose anyone else have this setup and if so, how do you connect those lines coming off the starboard motor & trans to the Reversco pump.

Has any one seen this on thier boat we’re the cross floor support separated from the floor ??? If so what did you do about it ??

Is this the correct thread for the 2010 390DA?

I just purchased one of these and it’s on the way to me. The inspector indicated that the forward bilge pump and the float switch for the aft bilge pump need to be replaced. I don’t have the boat in front of me, so I was wondering if any of you had the part numbers handy so I can have the parts here when the boat is delivered. I have the searay parts manual, but it lists a searay part number and IIRC these looked like standard Rule parts?

Call Sea Ray customer service
(321) 449-8628
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR HULL NUMBER . Listen/follow the prompts. They will look up the parts you want and give you the manufacture and the manufacturer part number
I hope this helps ! They don’t open till 9am EST. They can tell you most things about your boat, even email you a Built Sheet , motor and trans numbers and the selling dealer

I’m sorry ahead of time, but I think I’m going to have a round of stupid questions.

Stupid question #1: What exactly are the two “accy” buttons on the far right of the helm? And why are they also labeled, port, starboard and generator? I’ve searched the manual but don’t see any mention of these.

06-40DA , What kind of speeds do you get at 38-4000 RPM , with a 8.1L 370hp motors ??
My boats pulling 28mph at 4000 RPM , 26 at 3800 rpm , per on board and hand held gps ?? And 3400rpm cruise was 21 mph ?? Are these good ?

I had my underwater lights wired to one of those switches. I believe they’re extra or used for certain upgrades from factory

I don’t always run at 4000 but I just did on Saturday. I was between 29-30mph. Lake was 1-2’
