I gave up on our order of a 315 after 6 months, swapped to Vesper Cortex. Garmin bought Vesper in January likely why they are not addressing 315??
Garmin VHF315 radio issue- please help. I’m getting an error message on the handheld GHS-11 “incompatible software please update software on the VHF radio. I did all this and still have an error. Has anyone had any similar issue and know the fix? I’ve waited 5 month to get this radio and having issues. Very hard to get hands on another one.

I wish I had done the same. LOL. I’ve been on the phone with them for a week doing everything to try and wake the system. I was told by Garmin days ago that the 315 has been now discontinued and they couldn’t help me. I’m calling back on Monday and they are going to do something! I am not happy about this.

Any luck?

Garmin has just swapped out the unit. I’m awaiting to arrive in mail. I’ll keep posted once new comes in and if there’s a problem still.

So my lines had a little crud but not enough to cause my the high pressure warning. I've determined there is no communication between the front ac and the relay. The front ac is fine but it has to be running in conjunction with the salon ac. If the salon stops, the pump stops regardless if the front is running or not. I'm not an electrical wiz but I'd like to find the location of the junction box for the relays and at least see if the wires are connected. I think there are wiring diagrams in the briefcase on the boat. Not sure if it would actually pinpoint the location. Guessing it is close to the pump? Not a clue....
.
The Junction/Relay box is behind the electrical panel 12v side. There are 2 'triggers' that detect when either AC turns on and that's what turns the ac pump on. Sounds like the trigger for the front ac is bad.

Below is what you should see behind your ac/dc panel. You are looking for the relay box which inside will have at least 2 relays inside. (If you have cockpit air then you would have 3 relays inside.)

I've actually not heard of anyone having the box or a relay go bad but they are easy enough to troubleshoot. You should be able to swap them between your two units to see if that changes anything. Once the AC unit energizes a relay, ac flows out of the relay box to the pump.

Update- Garmin has replaced the faulty unit and all is up and running.

My microwave is original on the boat and I figure it'll konk out more sooner than later. Looking at the top of the storage/coffee maker cabinet below it there are no visible mounting /hold down screws. The microwave sits on a black painted board. I'm assuming it is mounted to the board. No clue how it comes out. Anyone have experience swapping out the microwave on a 390DA?

Mike right across from me on m-row did his this year I believe.

Forgive me if this has been addressed already. Please point me in the right direction if so. I have a friend that has been tirelessly searching for a 390/40. He has heard from a couple sources that the 8.1s are underpowered and burn a ton of fuel. I have 98 400 with 7.4s and I have no issues with power. Is it thirsty but it’s a boat. Don’t want to re-hash the gas vs diesel debate, just looking for some honest feedback and/or some good leads near SE Michigan, he’s open to gas or diesel. thanks,
K-Dub.

I had a 05 390 with 496’s. She was probably the worst boat on the lake for gas. (My opinion..) Love that boat and would still have it if it was diesel. Joe (Ezstep on CSR) has your boat or maybe a year or two newer. Same engines. He was faster than me and had better fuel efficiency.

I believe there’s a guy at our marina with a ‘06 40 with 496’s that was putting feelers out to sell. I can see if he’s still interested.

Have your bud read this.... https://dicksimonyachts.com/blog/boat-reviews-brochures/sea-ray-390-sundancer-review-2004-eye-candy

I'm plenty pleased with the performance of my 8.1s. It comfortably got me where I wanted to go. Yep, they burn gas. Oh well....

I would not even look at a boat that size with gas engines. Love the 496/8.1. Probably the best gas motor GM/Mercruiser made. Great motor, but I do feel it underpowered for the platform. Not slamming gas motors by any means, but after a certain size, it no longer makes sense (power or economical) to run gas. I would see if you could steer him towards a diesel version, if that is in his price point. Still a great boat either way and with great powerplants, but if given a choice? Just my opinion.

Find one with the 8.1 HO power plants. 425 HP and 500 ft/lb. torque
Definitely not underpowered.

I have the standard 8.1l motors in a 2010 390. I don’t feel that it’s underpowered.

I don’t have diesels to compare but our 8.1HOs are just fine… had 15 people on our boat this summer got up on plane like it was just my wife and I. Diesels certainly would be more fuel efficient, but we get plenty of smiles per mile.
