Official 400EC thread

I removed the valence on the starboard side (above the salon sofa). I believe I posted pictures of it somewhere in this thread. I would have to presume the process would be about the same to remove the panels above the galley side.

Look at Post #520 in this thread (about page 26).
Thanks! You Rock!

Anyone ever mount a flat screen on the starboard side wall in the front berth? Trying to get the wiring into the hanging closet in the mid cabin without surface wiring.

Update......got it installed over the weekend.

While I was cleaning out some of the compartments, I found the original coffee maker left by the previous owner. I have already put a Keurig into that space and I was getting ready to get rid of the old coffee maker when my wife suggested I save it.

Any value in the old coffe maker? Anyone need one?

Latest projects are new Xantrex 40 AMP "Smart Charger" to be able to charge four new AGM batteries. I replaced the group 27 batteries with group 31"s. (Easiest upgrade I've done on the boat). I also installed a remote panel.

I also installed a Xantrex Freedom XC 2000 watt inverter/charger, two 8D 330 AH each AGM batteries, with a remote panel, and a Xantrex LinkPro battery monitor. The inverter is wired to run all the A/C 120 volt outlets, and new 1,000 watt microwave oven.

Very impressive! Were you able to do all the work yourself?

Great work. I've been considering a similar upgrade so I have a couple of questions for you...
  1. Where did you locate the remote panels and the linkpro, and what type of wire did you have to fish to them?
  2. Where did you locate the the two new 8d batteries and the inverter?

Thanks again!

I installed the remote panel, and LinkPro to the right of the stereo head unit in the salon. The inverter/charger, batteries, and their components are all mounted down below in the 72" long floor storage compartment between the salon, and galley.

The use of AGM batteries are a must to make all of this work down below in the living quarters!

Been doing a lot of work so I need to post some updated pictures. Just moved the TV over the fridge to free up space.

Great work. Where did you install the antenna?
ran coax from old TV location in front cabin, under the bunk through AC compartment to mid cabin lower bunk area then up wall into closet in front cabin, starboard side...not bad. Used a tape fish.

a few modifications....

Posting pics of my new cabin lighting. Kudos to h_gerry for helping me figure out how to get out the trim pieces. It's finally bright enough for my wife without any plug-in lights. Added two on the galley side, one dome and one in the main salon.

Looks great! Nice job. I am glad you were able to get into the spaces you needed to make it work.
I like the idea of the valence lights on the ends and the dome in the middle of the overhead. How did you get the wire to it?
BTW I bought 4 of those lights based on your other post about them. When I get the "big stuff done," you know, like running engines, I will get them installed :). I need to replace all of the valance lights in both cabins and the left corner of your first picture. The Admiral may want different lights, so I will save the master cabin lighting for last and use the 4 I have to replace the other stateroom and salon lights.

Actually, it was easy once we got the trim pieces out. I used the "dream lights" for the valence and dome.

I wanted all of lights to work on one switch, so I ran a wire from the recessed lighting fixture to the front corner of the main salon, then ran another wire across the roof to the dome and the galley lights. I tucked the wiring under the curved trim in the picture. The dream lights were perfect because they are LED and bright but the lense diffuses the light so it's not glaring in your eyes. They are also light enough to mount directly into the trim on the roof with only 3/8 inch screws.
