you might owe that man a drink
Step one is to get the boat under contract, still waiting. I told him I would pay him, he said don't worry about it. At a minimum I'll let him use the boat. He's a dad with three small kids so they'll get a kick out of it.

By the way, shoot me a private message anytime if you have a question, he knows the engine's very well and worked on them for about 15 years. I can run your question by him.

Since it’s cold and snowy out…

I know a lot of guys have installed Wolverine oil pan heaters, and like them. Anybody install engine block heaters?

I’ve considered the oil pan heaters, but it’s a pain to get under the engines to apply and then you also have to sand the paint off, exposing the pan to corrosion.

Block heaters seem like a reasonable alternative, with the exception, you have to drain all the ELC for installation. But once installed, seem like a trouble free way to accomplish warming up a cold engine.

Dave - my PO of the 410 - the late OSD9 - sanded and added the Wolverine pad heaters. ER stayed very warm in the winter (7 gallons of oil heated to 80°) - don't think my bilge heater ever came on! No corrosion problems - He was in SW and I moved her to FW. Always used Rotella T-1 40wt...

Tractor Supply or Sam's.

Walmart has Rotella 30 and 40. Price seems to be about as good as you will get and is about what I paid in the fall.

They will deliver to you.

Is there a reason to work harder at this?

I couldn't get the 5 gallon buckets from Walmart...

Well, we are super close. Sellers are being, well jerks, to say the least. It's cold and IMHO the engines should have been winterized, but they have not been, sellers have a heater in the engine compartment.

Winterizing question on these 3126 CATs: On my 7.4s I would close the engine raw water seacock, fill a bucket with pink antifreeze, remove the raw water hose at the seacocks, put the end of the hose in the bucket, bump the engines until I saw good flow of pink out of the exhaust and then pour antifreeze into the seacock/strainer. Is it that simple on the 3126s?

I have never winterized mine, not uncommon depending on where you are located...

that’s all there is to it. Nearly all the AF will exit the bottom of the boat, so have someone out there or record it like I do. I use 7 gallons per engine
