Thank you so much! Good motors ?
2005 was first year they changed to electronic... yes base mechanical was/is bullet proof. Only weakness is valve adjustment...if you’re sure in its recommended service life they have been adjusted you are good...if not get them adjusted

1000 hour service completed 20 hours ago along with valve adjustment

So what is the actual part number (or a link would be even better) for the radiator cap for the 6CTA engines? My prev owner left me 3 spare radiator caps. All three are obviously different. Two of them have been used. (If you knew my P.O. you'd understand - these aren't all necessary "spare" parts, LOL). But even the unused one is in an opened bag, so I don't know whether to trust the p/n on the bag.

What is the actual, proper, radiator cap for these engines?

It's a 15lb cap, you can find them at auto/truck parts store.

or this should be what you need https://www.sbmar.com/product/cummins-marine-coolant-fill-cap/

@scooper321 You can use your engine serial number to find the part number you need
Thanks. That’s a helpful site if you know the serial number of the part you’re looking for. But typing in something generic like “radiator cap”, or trying to search from a mobile device, doesnt really find me what I’m looking for. Hopefully someone can just give me the part number. It’s the standard 6cta-8.3m engines we all have. Diamond 450s.

thanks, I saw that one. But I’m trying not to spend $32 for a radiator cap. Tony sells good stuff, but some of what he sells it is overkill, and some of the other stuff is overpriced.
FWIW, I just went to a couple auto parts stores until I found them. Don't remember where or the price but pretty sure one side or the other from 10 bucks.

Thanks. I’m ok doing that. But I don’t know that the correct ones are on the engines right now, so I can’t take one with me. That’s why I need to confirm the p/n.

No you put in your engines serial number and all its parts come up

I did that. I've used the site before. But as I said, finding a radiator cap isn't as easy on that site as finding a hose or a pump. I couldn't find it on there. If you've located it, please post the link.

I have different engines but it was right on parts website under the systems category "Heat Exchanger Upfit".
For me it was:
  • Part Number: 3393978
  • Description: Filler Cap
