Recently picked a 1988 Seville Mid Cabin. While doing some poking around online I came across these two images showing what I believe to be the original seat that came on this boat. I currently have 2 captains chairs and I think having something like this original bench might be more useful.

Does anyone know if there is a particular name for the bench, or maybe something similar that serves the same purpose? Ideally I'm looking to fit as much seating as possible there!

Well I've found a few more pictures showing that seat and am still on the hunt. I've determined it was referred to as a double helm seat with aft facing companion seats (and it appears the companion seat slid back and forth under the double helm seat and both shared the same back). Starting to think I might need to somehow design and build my own version of this!

The bench arrangement was very common, I'm removing mine to replace with Captain's chairs because the bench is uncomfortable to drive with, seat is to low, so I stand while driving, and when I need to leave the helm I have to climb over the back of the bench or my wife beside me, so captain chairs for me. I'll give up the aft facing seats and replace these been bags. ;) https://e-searider.com/wedge-marine-bean-bag-small

I find my captain's chairs are a bit too short/low right now anyway; and I have enough room to walk around the side of the bench. Your bench is the same style with the aft portion that slides in/under the main part of the bench? If its possible I'd love to see some more pictures of how it attaches and how that slide mechanism works. I'd say I would be interested in purchasing yours but I'm sure shipping from Florida to NY would be prohibitive.

The Sundancer style is slightly different... Instead of a single large aft facing cushion that slides out, it has two jump seats that fold down to form seat bottoms, revealing storage behind them as well. The entire helm unit slides forwarded and aft as one piece, I attached samples (not mine, too ugly). The front facing seat height is about 10" (very low). I suspect nearly all pre-89 Sundancers, 260 and smaller have the same helm seat, you could likely find one in a boat salvage yard. I chose height adjustable pedestals for my captain chairs, 15 - 20 inches, which should allow me to sit or lean and drive. If you choose to stay with your captain chairs, you could likely switch to adjustable pedestals for more height flexibility.

I considered switching to this bench helm seat from Springfield Marine (would require building a new base to attach the seat to), the back pivots forward and aft to allow it to be used as aft facing, but want the flexibility of the adjustable chairs.

Good luck!

Thanks for that @2016FLD. Definitely helps to see more options that were available. The more I think about it I might have to create something custom for my wants/needs. Of course I want it all! But right now I just need more seating, rather than seating thats perfect. Right now I've got room for 2 adults and the kids go in the cabin, or on the cooler cushion. The ability to put the 4 of us (or even 4 adults if we bring guests) onto one bench setup seems like a much better idea.

Hi,
I have an 86 Sundancer and prior owner tossed the jump seats. Sitting on the cooler leaves a lot to be desired. Do you know where I could find some original jymo seats??
Thanks!
