Our new to us 300DA

It was weird as all of the speakers in the cockpit were cranking but these two all the way up front in the cabin by the bed were very low. They seemed to not get any louder as I made the speakers in the cockpit louder. I thought maybe that was how it was designed as I could find anything in the settings of the radio that would seem to control them.

I had something similar one time on my boat. The radio reset the line-out settings from having no power provided and one set of outputs (the cockpit in my case) sounded muffled at a very low volume. I don't have the reset handy (its on my boat) but it was posted here on CSR - I may have a copy elsewhere and will look. If this the Clarion unit then the procedure is not at all intuitive and you will need the instructions to follow.

It is a Clarion unit in fact. Don’t have the model number in front of me. Ok. If you find it, send it along. Thanks, much appreciated

If everything is still factory, The two cabin speakers are connected to the head units speaker wires. The four cockpit speakers are connected to an amp driven by the head units amp rca connectors. If you have the factory premium sound system there is a second amp driving a subwoofer installed in the base of the helm seat. The head unit is most likely the Clarion XMD3.

I don’t think it’s the original system but I’m sure the previous owner didn’t mess with the factory wiring setup. But I can’t be sure. I’m gonna find the manual for the system. He installed it not too long before we bought the boat. Head unit is Clarion, I know that for sure. It has a remote station, maybe a 3-4” puck looking unit with a display, and all speakers including the subwoofer under the helm seat are JL.

So if what you are saying is true, it’s possible that the volume control is just for the RCA outs. Maybe I’m missing a secondary adjustment for just those two speakers.

Ok. Based on the paperwork that came with the boat, the head unit is a Clarion M303. Also found paperwork for a 700W 5 channel JL amp. So obviously the entire sound system has been upgraded so who knows how those front speakers are wired.

Can someone give me a quick explanation of what the Mercathode system, hope I spelled that correctly, works and what it’s all about. From what I can find so far it’s some type of anti corrosion system that’s installed. Does it work 24/7 or does it need to be armed and is it serviceable.

Also, the gauge system. I read so much on here about the SmartCraft system. I don’t think my boat is equipped with it as I don’t have a large display as I think that system has. But my gauges do have buttons that control all types of different displays and troll buttons. This is different from the Smart Craft equipped vessels correct? And are the gauges I have able to display stuff like fuel consumption, trim, fuel levels, etc etc.

Hope none of these questions seem silly. I just am trying to gather as much info from all of you folks as I can so I am somewhat mentally prepared for spring. Been spending some time down on the boat over the past month or two since we had it covered right after purchase just trying to familiarize and explore as much as I can about it, but, it’s getting really cold out now here in the NorthEast so that’s going to be much much less for the next couple of months unfortunately.

You have Smartcraft. Those are Smartcraft gauges. This will tell you how to use them, starting in Part 3.
