My 34DA had and overheat alarm go off on the port. What’s confusing is the Smartcraft shows temps normal 155-160. What I found is the port riser on that engine is really hot compared to the other 3. Obviously it’s a water issue but can’t figure out why? New manifolds 2 years ago but not the risers. I’m the 3rd owner and sure they are the original risers. When the manifolds were replaced they were pressure tested them and said they were all still good. All the water lines seem to be clear. The other side runs much cooler. Don’t have a heat gun but the port riser is way hotter to the touch. Any ideas what might cause this.
Thanks

clogged riser comes to mind
Pulled the riser and tested. It’s clear. I noticed a little rust inside the exhaust manifold which concerns me? Not sure if this is normal. Engine runs fine. Checked oil and no signs of water in the oil. Put it back together with new gasket and still same problem. No water is getting to the riser on this side. As soon as it starts it’s gets hot.

Had a similar issue. Port engine alarm went off and 2 minutes later starboard alarm went off. Smart craft and gauges indicated 170/168 but smelled hot. Risers and oil coolers were clean strainers looked good too. Found the problem between the strainers and water pickup under the boat. I removed the clamps and hoses and there was no flow so cleaned it out with a coat hanger. I was very surprised to see so much seaweed crap. Lake as been low this summer so i could have picked it up or its been there over time as we bought this fresh water boat in June. Check water PSI on SC, ours indicated 2 PSI at idle and 17psi at 3500RPM, I still don’t know what PSI is normal. I will replace impellers and clean out water pickups this winter.

Is the 2psi and 17psi after cleaning out your clogged hose?
Because Those numbers seem good.

That was after cleaning. I actually was so stressed I never checked when the alarms were going off.

I’m getting good water flow from the exhaust and the starboard riser is cool to the touch but the port gets really hot as soon as engine starts. It’s in the worst spot to get at but next going to try to pull all the lines from the pump back. They are all 1” lines which I can’t believe are clogged but never know…Strainers are clean. I would think if the intake was clogged both risers would be getting hot.

Is this in the slip or on the hose? Mine does that on the hose and the port as well

Pulled the water line that comes off the raw water pump to the port manifold T inlet. Was caked up pretty good with rust. Can’t remove that part without pulling the manifold so got a screw driver and kept digging and cleared as much rust out as possible. Flushed it out with fresh water. That fixed it. That riser runs much cooler and hopefully won’t trigger the alarm any more. Going out for a test run in the morning.
Thanks
