Searched and didn't see anything on this. Starting to think about some projects before splash and we're thinking about doing some painting. The cabin is dark and has a lot of teak paneling as well as all the drawers/cupboards. The admiral and I were thinking about painting the cabin interior in an attempt to brighten as well as update the look a bit. Anyone ever done this or have opinions on it?? Thanks!

Some of that will be teak, like trim, and some fake plastic/plywood teak, if it's like mine. I always thought I wouldn't mind painted flat surfaces, that aren't real teak, (but leave the trim natural) but I am afraid of two things: One, it would be too bright in the sun, and Two, that it would really show foot marks or whatever.

I painted all of my flat areas with this granite looking stuff with a clear coat on it, Looks great and is rock solid. Takes some time for the prep work but the actual painting goes pretty quick. It really brightens up the interior. Here are a few pics. (don't mind the mess, Just got back from a weekend at the marina)

good choice! good texture etc..

As a follow up, we painted. Verdict... We LOVE it!!!!!! It has not only updated, but majorly brightened the cabin. I'm at the boat now for the weekend. I'll try to get some pics and post them soon.

I was not a drastic huge change. But what it did do is drastically lighten the cabin and also made it look a bit more updated.

I also built and painted this shelf. It works out great for cups and glasses!

The other thing that helped a lot was replacing all the handles on drawers and cupboards with brushed nickel hardware. Didn't get a pic of that but it looks really nice.
