Came down Tom the boat, both port and star side batteries dead. 2 on port/ 1 on star, and one on genset...

Charger is dead, will turn on 2-3 min the. Shuts completely off. Anyone replaced a PD2040 with something that fit same holes and wires?

Any suggestions?

Still confused what made the Hattie's die though, nothing was on Tom drain them. And if the charger too, the batteries downmarket why did the gen set battery not have problems.

Sounds like your charger is toast, or not switched on. The genny battery is not the house charger. It's charged by the genny's alternator.
I replaced my charger with a ProMariner that was a direct replacement.

The genny is normally its own bank. In all my other boats, why would it not be charging from the charger too.

Yea that seems like bad idea. Why not have all batterys charging/maintained.

i am pretty sure the genny battery gets charged by both its alternator and by the charger.....I traced the wiring diagram for my boat and it shows one of the charger banks connected to the genny battery....the charger has 3 banks....

That’s what I would think, and all past boats have done.

I mean both your mains have alternators to charge while running as well, but the point of a on board battery charger/maintainer is to keep them top top all the time when docked, or running genny.

I replaced my PD2030 with a ProMariner Pronautic 1240P. (Increased by 10Amp). Works great for me and used the same setup. Give Jim from BOE a shout. They had the best price, and you get to support the owner of ClubSearay.

Hi, Cliff. Connection wise, I have 2 banks. Possibly the genny is on the same bank as the starboard battery. I haven't looked at the schematics.

The 1240p was exactly what I planned to install. Who is BOE

So just from eye balling looks like it will fit there good I assume some new screw holes and then reuse the factory cables? Or did you make all new leads

BOE is BOE Marine - Jim, the owner, pays for and hosts this forum for us. I just had to re mount the new charger on the bulk head but the wires were long enough in my situation. I did have change the crimp on end loop connectors as the posts on the Promariner were slightly thicker.

Thanks for the heads up. Can always drill the loops out a little if there is enough loop still left.
