PIB - Lake Erie

We only dock at B-dock with the Whaler if there's no room at CN or PIBYC. Usually on A2 at CN or the west side of the dock at PIBYC with the big boat, however, last weekend CN put us on F because of the forecasted storm. When we bring the Whaler over they usually put us on the floater in front of the Winery. I'll peek over when we're done at the pool today and see if you're still around, otherwise we'll be back on Friday. Cheers
No we are gone….. back at millers Friday

Went over Friday AM and it was flat as glass. Small craft advisory on Saturday. We had 2 friends that took the Jet express back to Sandusky and they were soaked on the top deck. Only boats out on water were ferries and coast guard. Gorgeous nights at PIB. Left Sunday am and it was a bit sporty to say the least. Easily 4-6 to Kellys and then it calmed. from KI to Sandusky I swear we had some 8 footers. Took 80 minutes to get back. Lake Erie is no joke with that North/Northeast wind.

We did Cleveland to Middle Bass on Friday and it was glass smooth till we got to Kellys and then just a light chop till we put in at MBI - beautiful ride. The ride home Sunday was some of the worst crap I've ever been in. Went three boats line astern with a 45 footer leading the way and still we were getting beat up. I think we hit a couple of 8 footers Sunday as well. It finally mellowed out a bit (2 to 4's) as we went by Lorain.

I don’t venture out to the islands if the forecast is NE winds 15knots or more. Just not fun

We came back to Sandusky from put in bay later in the day Sunday. Left about 3. 2-3's most of the way with some 4's after we cleared Kelly's. Surfing them so we weren't banging too hard. Guess I am glad we waited a while!

Wow! We left West Harbor at 1100 on Sunday with the Whaler and hit the beach(East Harbor Boater's Beach) with the boys for about a hour and then went to PIB for a pool day at CN and dinner then hit the beach again at around 1800pm on the way back to Catawba Island. We did not experience the same results as any of you. I'd say 3' with the occasional 4' at most in the early afternoon. Evening was 1' at most. When we left the beach around 2030 it was flat as glass.

Arrive yesterday around 11am. Erie was a consistent 2-4’ with the random big boy. Good times.

We'll be at Crews Nest tomorrow with the Whaler. More that likely we'll be on the floater in front of the PIB Winery. Cheers!

In the 80s and 90s Put in Bay was truly a boaters island. All ferries made the last run at 7:00 pm. There were no hotels with swim up pools on the island. After 7:00 the island was a good time with nothing but fellow boaters to party with. Pat Daily would pack the Beer Barrel. B Dock if you tied up to the main dock you called your raft till 6:00 pm Friday. Really liked this idea you knew who was rafted off you. We had a big group of boaters on B Dock that were known as B Docktrash. (The name came from the dock guys that had to clean up the dock after a day of partying on the dock, they would tell us we are boaters but to them we were Docktrash. This was all in fun they were never really mad.) We partied on the dock all day long, blenders for mixed drinks, smoothy machine on the dock, big stereo systems playing. Round House would have a B Docktrash king and queen contest. We were never bothered about open containers on the dock then. When the Jet express came to the island it and all the swim up bars completely changed the island. No drinking on ABC docks was introduced. That stopped a lot of the fun.
With the Jet Express and all the hotels with swim up bars the age group on the island changed to a college age. Along with that the boater comradery went away. Boats used to raft from A dock to B dock and from B dock to C dock not just 5 deep. The boaters today will never be able to see the island as it was when it was a boater's island.

It got bad in the early 2000's I agree. I think things have normalized a bit. This weekend wasn't as busy as I expected. Alot of people stayed away because of the Detroit buses. Island was fun and decently calm this weekend. I dont see them getting too aggressive on the C dock with open containers if your cool and near your boat. Dont give them a reason. Biggest issues I had was a 50Ft dilapidated Silverton on C dock kept on flipping the main breakers at C dock. A couple of us helped them isolate their AC feed from the splitter they were using and dock was good then. We were enjoying the Band at Roundhouse having a blast then the Island Power went out about 12. All downtown and public docks went dark. Mojito bay and everything West had power. Entire Bar crowd shifts to Mojito Bay. We went back to C dock and had a dock party with a couple neighboring boats. Power kicked on about 3 am and you could hear all the boats peeing in unison.

To each their own.

Only Major incident was there was a group at C blazing it up on Saturday afternoon. From what dock neighbor said, Coast guard stopped by and confiscated 2 lbs of green and took the boat off and away...

We were there yesterday. No boat. Drove over and took the ferry. Had about 2-3'ers on the way over in the morning but afternoon was quite a bit calmer. Still more people there than I expected for a Monday. Ate at the Boathouse. Good food. Spent most of the day sightseeing on the golf cart.
Saw a huge gray/silver boat names EZ Sea or something like that. My mother fell in love with it. Any idea what that boat is? Guessing maybe a 60-70'er or so.

If it is the one I'm thinking of, it is a Pershing from Canada. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago the owners had the pleasure of the Border Patrol climbing all over it.

This one had a different name, but from Ontario. Pershing 8x. When they docked, the Bow thruster created more wake than my boat.
