Last time out the port engine was running fairly hot and I've had the boat for a bit over a year and have no clue to how old the impeller was, so let's swap it out.

I followed the instructions created by 'Hampton' here on CSR back in 2010 found here:
http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/how-to-change-impellers-in-8-1s-with-pictures.26440/ and they are still just as valid eight years later.

Since my impeller was missing a few parts of some vanes, I decided to hunt them down (duh!). First real constriction point on the 8.1 is the transmission cooler and it's easy to get to.... So not only was the vane in the cooler, but it was laying flat across about half of the cooling hose! No wonder why it was running warm!

I tell guys at the marina that when they are replacing an impeller and see that it has self destructed, that they need to find all the pieces and rebuild the old impeller-so to speak- so that you know you have found ALL pieces and nothing has been forced into a passage to block flow.
