Presidential Candidates

I keep my political beliefs private however I will say that our current president had zero experience with anything, let alone the world stage, on they day he took office. You don't need to be a career politician to be an effective president.

Bebop is a lot of things, but effective president is not one of them...

It is surprising how many people chimed in back in May, but relatively silent now. I, for one (and apparently millions more..), am glad that Trump won! Yes, he is an unknown quantity, but I will take that over the beltway establishment anytime, on either side of the aisle! I am sick of Washington thinking they should dictate how the rest of us think and act, and especially sick of the Hollywood degenerates thinking they speak for hard working Americans. I will chip in for a ticket for all the idiots in Hollywood that said they would leave the country if Trump won! Trump had nothing to gain by becoming President, he was already rich. Obama partied like a rockstar as president. Big parties with lots of stars, and golf trips and vacations that cost us taxpayers millions of dollars. Okay, enough ranting....God Bless America!!

Yup, Miley Cyrus will be twerking with the Eskimos but leaving for Canada because of the election results is nothing compared to Cher, she said she's leaving the planet.:smt043

My guess the reason is that most of you are still in shock that the crazy bugger actually pulled it off. Shake it up Donald ... a lot of people are expecting huge things from you. Hillary thought that she got a rough ride from Trump throughout the campaign? From what I have been reading about her, she had better fasten up her seat belt nice and snug because a lot of hurt will probably be coming her way in the very near future.

It's now time to get to work.

I am neither able to vote in the American election nor do we own a SeaRay anymore. But count us in appropriately as I self-identify with owning a 125 footer.

violence would be worst if Trump lost. He'd be leading a revolution with plenty of willing participants. He wasn't about to go quietly into the night

I guess Hillary is officially 'Shovel Ready'

Perhaps, but it would be quiet until they got off from work.

One could only hope. I wonder how she will like Mars?

I for one, am thrilled with the way the election turned out. I am equally disgusted by the people rioting right now. If anything it proves the fascist nature of some of the supporters of HRC. Thank goodness they will no longer be able to impose their will on the rest of us, at least for the foreseeable future.

Agree with you compleltly Scott!!! We left Europe because we didn't like the way we saw it moving for the future of our children and then it started here too!!!

Half this country is poor and a large part of that lives in poverty. We got a median 'household income' of about 50K. They tell us everything is good, unemployment and such....but it ain't good. It wasn't 60 mil racist that elected Trump, look at the this map by county, it can tell a few things if you think about it.

I find Trump's initial response to the protest atmosphere quite amusing. Here are his historical words regarding Obama winning the presidency:

"We can't let this happen. We should march on Washington and stop this travesty. Our nation is totally divided."
"He lost the popular vote by a lot and won the election. We should have a revolution in this country."

The second is extra amusing, considering Obama won the popular vote, not the case for Trump.

Fast forward to this week:

"Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!"
"Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!"

So are protests bad or good?

Regardless, I'm troubled by the level of violence and intimidation coming from all sides, in individual attacks as well as among the mass gatherings. It's really disheartening that folks feel free to hurt people and property to make a point, or to more openly harass people for their differences, real or perceived.

I am tired of hearing popular vote.

The definition of our process of electing a president is the electoral process. Some have said it is outdated, defined by when people traveled via horseback.

I don't agree.

If you don't like the Electoral process, how would you change it?

Pure national popular vote would be difficult due the population concentrations in NY and CA. The Candidates would spend 90% of their time there.

The last major change we may to determining National Leadership was the 17th Amendment which passed in the early 1900's. Changed the way US Senators were elected.

Originally US Senators were choose by State Legislatures instead of popular vote within a state. US Representatives have always been popular vote based.

I am not convinced the 17th was a good change.

A very wise mentor once told me that if I ever start to think I know it all, that means you know nothing. Complex issues never have easy answers or they would have been solved years ago. For the sake of the world I hope he is wiser than he appears.

I hope when he says "acting presidential" he means "being" more presidential. Canadian perspective. Take it for what's it's worth. 73 cents.

Congrat’s middle red states. Your guy won. Hoping for the best. Not for me, but future generations.

It's funny how a few immatures today think that the system is rigged or unfair because their candidate lost. Yea, I was disappointed the last 2 elections when my candidate lost, but I never once thought I should go riot or petition to have the Electoral College eliminated. The founding fathers of our country were very smart and put a ton of thought into how to set up the election process to be fair for all. Over the last few days I have seen a few videos on FB explaining the EC, but this is the best one I've seen: https://www.facebook.com/prageru/videos/883270108382513/

Just because Hillary appears to have won the popular vote doesn't mean that we throw the whole system away. I don't even think it needs reform, but that's me.

I watched Trump's acceptance speech and was very happy to see a unifying message, I really wished that we could see that kind of message during the campaign instead of the back and forth bickering coming from both sides. It's so sad what our election process has become - denigrate your opponent instead of building up your own platform. I hope that he means what he said during that speech, and that the "other side" is able to put their disappointment aside and come together for the betterment of the country. I hope, but don't hold my breath, we shall see.

Edited to correct the video link...

I voted Trump. Very tired of the career politician owned by the media and well funded lobbyist crowd.
