I own a 2001 340 Sundancer. I’m having a problem with my freezer door. It will not

Stay closed causing a frosting/ice buildup issue. Fortunately, the fridge and freezer both still work well from a cooling standpoint. Pictures attached. Recommendations appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If it’s an original Norcold, that’s just how these things are. You will need to defrost every couple weeks.

Best I have found is to use a hair dryer. Do not use anything to mechanically scrape the ice...you will puncture the evaporator coil...(they are very thin) and you will be out $2-3k for a new fridge. Put a beach towel in the bottom of the freezer, and a bowl under the drip pan (top shelf). Use the dryer to get a small area down to aluminum, and the ice will start melting and falling off in sheets.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have been using the hair dryer to help speed up the defrost Process. Seems like we do it every 6 or 8 weeks. I was thinking if the freezer door closed with a better seal it might go a bit longer w/o having to defrost as often, which is a PITA.

I put a bolt type lock on the centre/top of the door. Had to drill a hole in the top plastic for the bolt to extend into and lock it shut, but it will now go an entire season without frosting to the point of needing defrosting.

Any chance you could post a picture of your setup.

Thanks for the link. Now I’ve got the idea.
