Quick question....on a 2000 SR380DA with 454 MAG MPI's and V-Drive......to push/pull the propeller shaft all the way back to the dripless seal ....do I have to remove the rudder or will the propeller shaft somehow clear/pass the rudder? Propeller will be removed.

I need to remove V-drive to replace damper plate
Thx

Nope - rudders are offset.

Thx....answer I was hoping for!
I will be pulling the shaft and then removing the V-drive to get to the friggin damper plate. I will write it up with photos.
Did you get the shaft pulled? Curious how it went

Temporarily put the project on hold (new cabin flooring) and it is getting pretty close to haul-out time so I am thinking of waiting until boat is out of water.

I still plan on documenting pulling the V-drive without pulling engine, so project will be the same with the exception of in/out of water.

Definitely measures out to be doable (just wait until its over for the beers!)

I think my dripless is leaking, so I just need to figure out ow to pull the shaft. Please post info, I appreciate it!

“Dripless”....more like slow drip.

I have the TideSeals and it is normall to get a few drips every couple of minutes. Is it more than that?

if so, do you have a spare shaft ring seal already on the shaft....you can slide the old one down and the new one in while in the water (check out video)

It’s not a ton, haven’t seen the other one, I will look closer, thank you!

Ay my yacht club they always pull the engine and v drive as a unit to get to the shaft and seals. They have the luxury of having the crane attachment on the travel lift which makes it much easier. If you don't have a crane setup maybe pulling the v drive alone makes sense.

Somebody on here pulled his V-drive without removing the engine.... I think on a smaller boat then yours....might be worth a search

Yup...
That’s where I got the idea

Sorry not yet.....waiting to haul out later this year and then I will document everything from pulling the prop shaft and removing the v-drive (to install new flex plate) without removing the engine.
