Doing first service since ownership of the genset Racor 500ma. Don’t have a spare to refer to so don’t know whats it’s currently running, 2 or 10 micron. Would like to buy in first prior to servicing. Can anyone advise what size they using. I am thinking 2.

Mine is 10 as well

What size are your main engines' Racors - 10 or 30? If they are 30, then use 30 in your genny. If they are 10, I would use a 10. My 3126 CAT powered 410 used 30's, but my MAN powered 58 calls for 10's ...

Your secondary (on engine) filters are usually 2 microns on most engines...

Racors for the gen and 3126's are 10 microns.
Didn't know that...I haven't owned mine for a few years, but I thought the spec was 30...10 won't hurt though. If you have dirty fuel, you may need to change them more frequently till it cleans up...

I run a 2 micron for the genny, helps to keep the much, much smaller filters on the genny clean. Never had any issue with the racor getting dirty, the genny just does not pull that much fuel.

CATs, on engine filter, I believe is 2 micron and I have ran 10’s for years and have never had a problem (clog) and have no clue what Westerbeke’s on engine filter is but I run 10 in the racor for it.
