In Florida, I worked with a retired FHP officer who did a lot of Interstate highway work. His saying was "Nine your fine, ten your mine."
 
The other key is to have a friend who is an attorney. She has gotten me, my kids and their friends out of a ton of tickets. I get her best hourly rate, $0. One day we got pulled over while my wife was driving. Before the cop was done writing the ticket a letter was already on the way to the prosecuting attorney. The ticket was expunged before we got to where we were going.

Ha. I had a cop buddy(county, not a state nazi), used to say “only people out after 2am are drunks and theives, and both their asses are mine”. Unfortunately, i have another buddy works maintenance at hospital, shift starts 2am. Gets pulled over all the time on way to work.

I was on my way home around 1am one morning after working a double shift. I got pulled over for speeding, which I was clearly doing by 10mph plus. I told him I had just got off work, he checked my info, then let me go. He was looking for dui's.

Nothing good happens after midnight, I do all my drunk driving before 11.
 
I haven't used a radar detector in years - last one was in my BMW 325 (late 80's) it had front and rear detectors and I drove it like a maniac. Today I cruise the Lexus 5mph over -- hauling ass weaving around slow cars is just too stressful. Plus my wife just won't have it. Last ticket I got was doing 90 in a 55 on a Sunday morning on my way to the Masters in Greenwood SC. I had a NC license, tag etc, patrol man said I could pay $100 cash on the spot or go see the magistrate -- I paid and never heard another word about it, oh the good ole days!

The Masters is played in Augusta, Ga. So you were going fast to the wrong place...:confused::cool:

Yeah I know that, I lived in Hendersonville, NC at the time, so driving through SC to get to Augusta. Should have said driving through Greenwood SC and got pulled over on my way to Augusta.
 
Around here, the in-town freeway speed limit is 65mph. If you're not going at least 70, you're going to get run over. I'm usually running 70-75 just to blend in with the rest of the traffic. The only people I see with the sex lights on are those that stick out; really fast and/or diving in and out of traffic. Just be cool, man...

We have a couple "outer belt" highways that are the same. Better be doing 80 or drive on the shoulder on weekdays. But on the weekend the cops are lined up to hand out tickets to the unaware.

You're kidding, right? How many pages did the headlight thread run? Look at our recent med thread. The majority of the lower 48 is doing anything we can to keep from going crazy just before boating season starts. It's like the lineup at the local horse track.

Oh man your not kidding. Don't know what I was thinking. Thank God! I am moving my boat into her summer berth this weekend and it's supposed like 60° or so. So maybe some boating beverages on the back of the boat, who knows.

I forgot about the extended ascii table until I saw a post and you did that! For those who don't know, try holding the alt key and type 248 on the number keypad while in a text editor on a PC.

I had a crazy lawyer in college for my shenanigans …… I got caught without insurance…. Went to court to fight it….. we sat at the bar all afternoon at college….. raced downtown on a motorcycle to the court house lawyer is standing there saying wtf…… he goes give me $200….. he says you been drinking stand here….. goes in and talks to the judge…… comes out and says get out of here you’re good
 
That same lawyer…. Sued the cops for me…. My girlfriend at the time now wife was driving down a highway and this cop goes into the median to turn around….. we were like the fourth car behind the cop….. they all smash into one another….. we stop like 6” from the car in front and just get creamed from behind….. we went under the car in front…. His bumper broke our windshield…… first time I screamed at a cop….. he pointed his finger in my face and said I’m charging all of you for following to close…… it was funny as hell….. he knew he was screwed. I bought my first boat with that money
