I have a 2006 Searay 44DB with a Raytheon E120 chartplotter radar installed as original equipment. I recently commissioned the boat and cannot get the radar to work. The radar worked fine upon winterization. The E120 powers up normally with the depression of the power key and the chartplotter comes up on the display - (and worked normally during a one hour transit to my permanent slip). Subsequent quick depressions of the power key only enables the backlight level adjustment. I cannot get the radar function soft keys enabled as before through the power switch. I have a "no scanner" alert in the upper left corner of the display. I recycled the on/off power switch at the radar mount pedestal. I switched the display from chartplotter to the radar screen and get a "no data source" alert. I am plugged into shore power, batteries are charged and connections are good. I am running out of ideas. Any suggestions??

You may have already fixed this by now, but if not, I would suggest that you either call Raymarine or go to their tech support forum here: http://forum.raymarine.com/?_ga=2.194080941.1611011091.1555158179-499579191.1552262600

You have to register to post, and it takes a while for your post to show up because postings are moderated, but you will get good troubleshooting advice. They have a moderator there, Chuck, who is responsive and provides good guidance and very clear answers. I've also found their phone support to be really helpful once you get to the right person.

FWIW, I'm working through the same issue on a used RD218 array that I'm bench testing. I have a known-good E120 but the array is new to me. The symptoms are the same, and I suspect it is an issue with the connector. On mine, they cut the cable at the array to remove it from the boat, and the connections are a bit finicky. I haven't worked through mine, but am planning to work through it over the weekend. I know I'm getting power to the array, so I am am going to go through testing continuity on each wire in the cable to see if there is a problem in my connections. I suspect I will have to re-do the connectors.

Good luck!

My detailer flipped the toggle switch on the base of the pedestal to the off position once. I had no scanner message. We were under way and needed radar as the weather was changing. Had to leave the helm an flip the switch with the end of our mop handle as conditions were too rough to go up on the hardtop. Is your switch "on"?
