I have a 290 SLX with an extended swim platform - the boat is actually pretty nice to fish off of believe it or not. The stern is roomy.
I really want to troll and dont know what the best solution for holders is...

does anyone have any experieince doing this to a bowrider??
Thanks!

No, but if you install them angle the holders outward. If 2 per side, angle the forward set outward more than the aft ones. This will get the lines a bit out from the boat and help the forward lines clear the aft lines.

Smith is my favorite brand. There are 3 different series you can check out.

I started with 2 on each side, but since added a pedestal with a longer track in order to run 3.

Nice and clean. They also make a step pad for the track.

Thanks Maky and others. I am going to go with the picture and see how we do!
Happy fishing

Trolling is what we do. We troll for salmon in Lake Ontario, and for Muskys in the Niagara River, and have been doing it since the '70's. I have had "Fish-Ons" on 4 boats now, and wouldn't own any other. What sets them apart from the SS holders is that they are quick detachable (take them off when not fishing), plus, and more importantly, they have an adjustable ring that securely holds the rod in place. We turn them up when traveling and lower them to trolling position when fishing.

I have used SS mounts as well, but only for vertical storage. I don't trust them to hold on to the pole when a 30 pound salmon hits.

The Fish-ons are available with a rail mount, if you have a rail, or a flush mount if you don't. I just installed a pair with top flush mounts on our new SeaRay. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture yet. Below is a pair rail mounted on our Whaler. In the pic they are turned to vertical after the fishing was over.

If you can fit them, I like the 30degree flush mounts with gimbal mounted multi rod holders. As mentioned above Smith are very solid; Lee’s are also great.

Lots of companies make gimbal mount setups. Here’s my set up. Lee flush mounts with Muddy Creek holders.

Rod holder come out when not in use.
