Replace or Rebuild Carburetor?

You've got a lot more cleaning to do beyond that. And, the entire Carb needs to be disassembled. The only thing that doesn't get taken apart is the throttle shafts and butterflies. Soak the pieces in Carb cleaner (get the gallon can with a basket in it from NAPA) at least over night.... All of that gasket material must be removed to metal. It needs to be surgically clean and laid out on a white towel for assembly. My OCD talking....
Thats how I used to do them. Bought a can of Berrymans and disassembled every piece. But didn't have a can of cleaner and thought I got it good enough but it still has the occasional sputter. Back when I was doing a couple carbs a month I had all that stuff. I did tear this one completely down but can get into the fuel passages. And I have even done throttle shafts and butterflies in the past to replace worn shaft bushings. This one didn't need that

Well ordered it last Friday first thing in the morning. Yesterday morning my card was billed but i have not received any email with any shipping info. Called them just now and they said they are about a week behind on shipping and they hope to get it shipped out by the end of this week. Boat runs good 98% of the time so no biggie but if you are expecting to get it in 3 days like their site says then don't count on it...lol

Got the carb yesterday and put it on last night. Fired right up but had to make a few small adjustments. Idle mixture screw was out 3.5 turns. I got it set using the tach at 2.0 turns out and I obviously had to set the idle speed. Other than that all was good. Shipping was a little slow but so far so good. Sits and idles fine. Haven't taken it out for a run yet but I don't see any reason to think we will have any trouble but the old carb is sitting in a bucket on the boat for now just in case....lol
