Replace the genset with an inverter

Currently biding on 340's (2004 to 2006) and one of them does have a "troubled" gen-set. Broker doesn't know the details. But I'm considering (if the price is right) to buy it with the thought of pulling the generator out and doing a full over hall; depending on what the assessment is once I own it.

For those of you who have had the actual experience of pulling one of these generators out of the boat, how difficult is it to get that thing out of the engine compartment?

I was snooping around an Axopar 37 today and noticed that the AC is powered by a lithium battery. I couldn’t get close enough to figure out if the AC was running directly off of DC or if there was an inverter being used. The sales guy said it was spec’d to run for 7 hours.

Perhaps a very large battery store isnt necessary if you upgrade the AC system???
