Replacement VHF Radio

I wanted to provide an update with my decision, and end results, for the replacement radio. I decided on the Raymarine 55. It's dimensions were the closest to the original. I did purchase the surface mounting plate to cover the few millimeters difference.

Did the radio dealer also have the surface mounting plate? Do you know its part number? I can't find the plate on the Raymarine web site, or in the owner's manual (.pdf document), just a surface mount kit, which I believe consists of brackets that come from behind the console.

Could you pass along the dimensions of the plate, so I can compare it to the original one from the Ray 210 VHF?

Thanks a bunch.

RonF,

Sorry for the slow response. I purchased the radio and flush mount kit at Hodges Marine http://www.hodgesmarine.com/. Yes, they had both the radio and kit in stock, and still do as of this morning. I checked several sites before ordering and nobody seemed to carry both except Hodges.

The Raymarine kit part number is A42119. It measures approximately 7 3/16" x 3 13/16".

Good luck.

I just purchased a raymarine 55 to replace my 215 as well. I have a question concerning the wiring. The 215 had a white plug on the back that 6 wires ran into-red, black, blue, purple, yellow and green. I am totally confused about how to hook up the wires coming from the 55 since it does not have the same plug. Do I need to get a new plug and then somehow run my new wires into it? and if so, how?
Thanks for any help,
Mark

The new radio should have come with its own new plug. If not, cut the old one off the old radio and use both ends of it. The wire colors should match up. All of them may not be used, ie. extention speaker? etc?
