hi everyone, we just purchased a 2002 240 sundeck. It has the factory clarion XMD2 head unit and the remote in the dash. The head unit is malfunctioning and I want to replace it. A couple of questions: 1. How do you remove it? 2. What has everyone replaced them with? I know the old remote will not work with newer head units. And I’d rather not cut a bigger opening in the dash area.
Thanks for any information.

I just bought a Clarion M505, based on information from other threads. It is one of the few clarion head units with front, rear, and subwoofer line outfits. I haven't installed it yet, so...

According to the internet, the remotes will work, there is an adapter for sale on multiple venders. just google clarion remote adapter and look for a CCUMRA1. It doesn't pass the information to the LCD display, but all the remote and steering wheel buttons are supposed to work.

The radio removes like a car stereo, release the clip and pull from the front. I have a CMD4, slightly different model than yours, but the manuals are downloadable on the Clarion website. On mine, you open the CD door, pull off the rubber side caps, remove the 4 screws, and the thing pulls out.
