Hi All:

I am trying to find a supplier of the interior vinyl that is glued to the inside of the hull around the bed in the bow. I have removed the cushions surrounding the bed giving as a full Queen sized length and width bedding area but now need to replace the vinyl as it does not go all the way up under the cupboards. I've contacted Sea Ray and they do not have access to it anymore. This vinyl has a foam backing of approximately 1/2" thick. Anyone have any ideas where you might find such a beast?

Thanks

Wow, nice boat. We've had some success in matching upholstery through our local fabric shops. Fanny's Fabrics was the one we had the most success with. Sometimes we've had to buy the fabric and the foam separately and apply them individually. 3M contact cement has always worked for that. I've found that it's best to buy extra of all materials and trim them after the glue sets. It's darn near impossible to cut the stuff to a pattern and apply it exact on the first try. If you can't find an exact match try something that will accent the cupboards to some extent or pick up a subtle color from somewhere else in the cabin. Good luck, and, nice boat. Thanx fer postin' the pics.

My first thought would be as Chris mentioned - look around for a local upholsterer. They'll have not only the product, but also the knowledge to help with any questions you may have. As in the old days... let 'yer fingers do the walkin'

Morbern vinyl is a long-standing, reputable vinyl manufacturer. I don't know if they sell direct or through retailers, but their website is kinda fun to poke around on and see myriad of vinyl colors, patterns and textures available. I believe they make "foam backed" vinyl, but if not - as Chris mentioned - just use separate pieces.

But, just to offer a suggestion - if you haven't already thought of it - what about rebuilding the surrounding cushions to be smaller (vertically speaking)? Just enough to cover the small shelf's exposed edge and the missing vinyl. Sort of a "bolster". You may be able to use the existing cushions to do this, or building new ones wouldn't be too hard. That would keep a nice soft (visually) edge going around the bed.

Thanks Dennis. I have also entertained that thought about the smaller bolsters. I took the larger cushions apart and have retained the upper wooden part that fit under the cabinets and plan on using that as a template for the new edging whatever that turns out to be. I have a friend that's coming to look at it all this week. He's quite talented at working with wood and designs. Loves a challenge like this. The bolsters that are on the 340 models are almost exactly what I need. I just have to get a design and make the forms then have them covered. I was concerned about the vinyl underneath not going all the way to the top so I'm just getting all my supply listings in order so when I start, I can have various choices available.
Thanks for the input.

I have just removed my cushions and also planning to purchase the original vinyl and put in smaller cushions to maintain a bigger sleeping area. Do you mind sharing what you did? Also, I am looking for a supplier of the foam back vinyl so if you know the part number and a supplier that would be really helpful. Glad to see someone else did this!
