Rittenhouse case

Maybe these folks who hate America and promote all the lunatic liberal thinking would be welcome in say……..Canada? :) Simple bus ride and they can watch CNN 24x7.

Imagine the value they could impart about: no incarceration, no genders, Transgender Mounties and of course Racism.

Sorry to destroy your illusions but Canada has incarceration for serious offenses but pot-smoking is not one of them. We have genders but no igloos. LGBTQ is a thing but there is plently of alphabet left. RCMP is still largely male and with a diverse make-up of members: Asian, Sikh, Muslim, Indigenous, Black and even a few blue-eyed, white guys like my nephew and brother. Yes, racism hits the news here, with Indigenous people often calling white folks priviledged and racist. It has little effect, though. No riots with occasional protests when the weather cooperates. However, no one watches CNN. It's usually Global, CTV or CBC for Hockey Night. We do get American news, though and Canadians are often well-travelled in the States. My wife and I have wintered in the U.S. for several years and we have traveled from coast to coast to coast, including into Alaska and many times to the Hawaiian Islands.

Americans generally take little interest in Canada but many are immigrating here, recently. Generally, those seem to be well-educated people, with above-average incomes so they are very welcome. Those I know personally, have left Texas ( two families) and California because of the deterioration they have witnessed at home and as has been described on this thread. Canada is an easy destination for Americans relocating but some may miss all their guns. They are not needed here, except for game hunters, like my son-in-law and for varmints on the farms. If you are a good tradesperson in construction the door is wide open.

Part of it is the happenstance of borders. The U.S. has a border with Mexico and so indirectly with El Salvador and Nicaragua, Guatemala, Panama and further south. There is no doubt that creates the issue you mention. Controlled immigration is necessary but the in-rush of illegals is a huge challenge, as you are so well aware. Canada borders mostly oceans so the challenge is much less. However we do have trouble with people that fly in on tourist visas and disappear. Also, with people that come in illegally from ...
the U.S. Our immigration policy is heavily biased against white European people with skills and/or financial resources, which annoys me. We have had plane loads of other "refugees" coming in, though. All optics and politics. Apparently old, white guys like me have had it too good for far too long. Our politicians and other, virtue-signalling activists are determined to right that "wrong."

I kinda like ur post sir, however we are not getting all the high end immigrants, we r getting them from every continent on earth, we do not want any more terrorist here. for the most part they are coming to escape a country that has rampant poverty from leaders that are lining their pockets (politics, dictators, etc).
Based on that i do not want my grandchildren to be under that burden.

Maybe they need to take up arms there and put a end to injustice. That I don't know.
However I do know that I don't want to pay their way nor do I want my children and grandchildren to pay for it.

u know thats why we had the tea party in Boston and the Declaration Of Independce.
which at the time was treason sir.

Illegal immigration into the US has long been a problem.

It started with most of your ancestors (unless you are native American). Mostly from France, Scotland or England in those days. Came in illegally. Didn't speak languages of the land and most refused to learn it. Walked around like they owned the place. Took away the hunting jobs. Brought some strange religion, worshipping some dude that long ago their people had drank his blood, but called the first Americans the savages.

Stupid comment. When our ancestors came to this country. They knew if they worked hard they could provide a better life for themselves and their families. The majority of the illegals coming into the country now are just coming for the free handouts.

Creekwood is relating a popular narrative in Canada: European "settlers" stole indigenous lands and orchestrated the destruction of indigenous cultures. There are many historical and anthropological errors in this narrative however, it is popular and is rarely scrutinized.

Its sarcasm. I have some friends and colleagues that are first nations (Indian). They find it ironic when sons and daughters of European immigrants talk about immigration being a problem.

That's actually not what I said at all. I am not talking about stealing land. Most of the treaties were negotiated, not theft. The path of that history is disputed, but it is a fact that if you are of any nationality other than native American or Canadian, your ancestors were not here first, and you are the descendants of immigration.

You ignore the fact that the early fur trade with the British and French in pre-Canada was whole-heartedly embraced by the indigenous peoples for 200 years. That symbiosis resulted in the large Metis population present in Canada.

So what? The history is clear: the present aboriginal populations also displaced the ancient peoples that lived in N.America prior to the arrival of ancestors from present Asia and Russia. Or do you subscribe to the Great Creator and Turtle Island myths?

I am just funnin' with you guys. Your nerves are all so frayed and exposed you can't smile. I shouldn't have poked another stick from another irrelevant angle, so for that I apologize.

By the way, I totally agree you have a terrible southern border refugee problem. Canada is lucky, we border the wealthiest country in the world (not per capita though). So no surprise that there are more people trying to get into the US from Mexico, than American's trying to get into Canada.

Anyway, I have no idea how a thread about Kyle Rittenhouse's trial is now about immigration.

But lets get this party started:

The problem in the US is that you all think that portable generators should not be used on boats. That's just horseshit American mythology.

I'm out.........
