has anyone replaced the factory rope lighting with led? Is it direct 12v replace? Any issues also flourecent under cabinet in the galley? Any suggestions for led. The original is bad and inefficient and overly complicated. Im trying to replace all for efficiency and reducing 12/24v loads

I replaced the rope lighting in our V berth and mid ccabin with LED last year.

Used Kayak LED strip sold at Academy. I think it was 24". Just cut the old wire and connected the new set. Took no time at all. Kit even came with little clips for holding the strip in place. Super cheap as well. I think they were $20 or less.

I did as well. I bought a 12ft roll of warm white water resistant 12v LED strip. It came with wire leads on both ends, but with a bit of soldering skill it was easy to cut it, clean off the cut ends and solder on new leads to get whatever length I needed. I don't have dimmers on them so did not need dimmable strips. Another alternative would be to use a color changing strip with remote and wire the box at the strip so that the remote could operate and dim the strips. The parts are really cheap these days.

Replaced all mine with LED as well. Liqour/glass cabinets, under master bed and around outer perimeter as well. Above sink/cook top area. I used 12 volt rope lights in master state room. Strip light from internet for cabinets. And i found two really bright led modules with switches for galley.

awesome! Great replies! I was thinking warm white most everywhere in the cabin. Im glad to hear the easy nature of the replace. Possibly adding color changing in the cockpit and aft under the Gunnels and in cockpit cubbies. I also possibly will be replacing over time some of the overhead cabin lighting modules. They seem to vary widely in price so replace may take a bit of reserxh to find the quality/price balance.
On another note I am dealing with the spotlight. I noticed good solutions to the drive motors here. Has anyone seen an led mod for the lighting as the bulbs seem very expensive?

Depending on the spot light bulb there are probably LED replacements. If it is a par36 GE 4700 type bulb you may be able to use an aircraft landing or taxi bulb that has a par 36 sizing.
