I have some rust on my engine pulleys, causing wear on the serpentine belts. Is it ok to use one of the rust converter products on the pulleys? There are a number of them on the market that can either be sprayed on or brushed on. They convert the rust and prevent further rust and can be painted. Just wondering if this stuff would cause any problems with the belts.

Good question, very interested in this topic, although mine extends to parts of the block and alternator etc.

from the auto world....
if your engine has a multi-groove belt
I personally would not..that stuff catalyzes the rust and basically swells up
it would change the groove size on your pulley
if it is Vbelts ...go for it !!
I would pull it off and wire brush the grooves and then use a laquer paint ...
