One of the first projects for the spring is going to be SAT radio in our 310. Here is the question, I recently purchased a gamin 478 to use in the car primarily; as well I would like to use it as a weather receiver on the boat; and to be the back up to the back up of our primary chart plotter on the boat and in the ditch bag.

Since the 478 does XM and with the weather package radio is also included what is the easiest way to incorporate this into the existing XMD1 on our 2001 310? I am 10 thumbs when it comes to wiring so please keep that in mind. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I am certainly no expert, but you will probably have to get their network bundle. Try Garmins website as well. JC

There is a hack where you can use the XMD1 CD changer controls to use as AUX in. It really isn't that hard to do. It was discussed Here as well as other sites. Try Planet Natique

If you know anybody who is remotely competent with gadgets, I'm sure you could get it done.

Good Luck
