Yep, title says it all. We saved $10k for a downpayment, paid for a marina slip, transportation, insurance....

Purchased a "dream boat", then have spent the past two weeks upgrading/ cleaning/ etc...

Today I lost my job.

So, if anyone is interested in a 2006 260da with an aluminum trailer, generator, a/c, windless, GPS/fishfinder combo, new speakers.... I hope to get out of it what I paid before the electronics/ cleaning, etc- $57900. $2k more for the trailer (triple axle aluminum).

Sorry to hear that - what do you do for a living? We would prefer to help you find a job and keep the boat!

Sorry to hear. Yes we are living in interesting time.

I’d list the boat and look for a new job. Do both.

Oh, just a suggestion, you may want to check your goal of getting out what you have into it. Consider trying to get out what you owe on the boat. A boat, even unused, spins off a lot of expenses such as payment, insurance, maintenance, before long you will need to pay winter storage, etc.

Having the luxury of saying “I don’t have to sell it, I’m holding out for such and such’ may not be where you are at right now.

What was your job?

Best wishes.

Oh man I hate to hear that! Around us there are not too many boats for sale like ours that are listed by a private owner. Hopefully she wont be too hard for you to sell. If you want a good listing agent I can give you a name of a local guy I bought mine from up on Lanier. He listed and sold me the boat as a private sale which was what attracted me to the boat in the first place...No TAX!

That sucks. Sorry to hear about your situation but I'll keep my fingers crossed for better days for you.

Good luck

Thanks fellas.

For the past 3 years I was employeed by a company that provides floor plans for automotive dealers and was the regional manager in the northeast area (even though I live in the southeast).
I have a dual degree in professional sales and marketing, and worked at an automotible auction (same company) since college managing several departments- fleet/ lease, marketing, arbitration, lot operations, service center.

I do have a very successful car dealer/ friend who said he would allow me to use his floorplan (same company I worked for...) to buy and sell cars if I would like. Since I've been in the industry and know cars I'll probably do that until I land.

I'd hate to sell the boat for what I owe on it being I put down 20%, spent another $2k, and have never had it in the water! I'm willing to take a loss, just not that big of one yet.

Hmmmmm, no tax? 1.800.busted1

Even with a private deal how did you work that out?

I would imagine in Cali with their financial woes, they are collecting tax on the air you breath now, too.

Thats how it works here in the free states. Many do not collect sales tax on transactions between private parties on cars and boats.

Really? When you go to register the boat, won't they have you pay sales tax then?

No sales tax on private sales here in Georgia! I will do you one better to make your Cali skin crawl......are you ready.........no mandatory recycling!:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

YIKES!

(We actually pay extra to have them pick up recycling...)

When we bought our 340 I was willing to go a Summer without a boat to save me the 7% tax on a brokered boat....

Nope, and hold on to your shorts....we don't pay state income tax in NV either.

My apologies to the OP for the hijack, and I'm sorry to hear you lost your job. Best of luck!

SeanO,

Sorry to hear about your job loss, but your opportunity sure looks inviting. Good Luck!!!!
