Hi All,
I know where the horn compressor and tank is, however, it appears the tubing going to the horn may have a leak.
Question: Do you know which panel (ceiling) would need to be removed to get at the nut holding the horn in place?

The large panel on the bottom of the radar arch is how I get to the horn's tubbing on my boat. You have the horn then there is also the air valve. Short of having a hole in the tubing, I'm betting it's a connection at the horn, valve or pump

I’ll check. But my horn is sort of above the crew head/tv in crew quarters.

My horn is in same place. Took me several weeks to finally locate the compressor switch etc, behind the washer/dryer. Before that i had removed about every panel possible in the guest area looking for it. No luck of coarse, and i did not locate the bottom of horn either. However it looks like it will probably wind up being above the vinyl ceiling just to port of guest head door. Not something i want to mess with. I'll stay tuned to see what suggestions pop up here.

In the guestroom you have a upper cabinet. When you open it you see a round hole covered by a plate. The best thing you do is to remove the complete cabinet for better access.

When you remove the round cover plate you can see the compressor of the horn. Remove the compressor and behind you see the nuts that holds the horn. The only small problem is that you need to have long arms hahaha. Otherwise you have to remove the ceiling in the guestbathroom and that you don’t want to do.

My horn is also in bad shape. I repaired the compressor but unfortunately I only hear some wind blowing. Then i found out that in the horn some parts were missing and all seals are in very bad shape. My effort for repairing the compressor was a bit for nothing because when I buy a new horn I get a new compressor too.
Replacing the horn I will do in spring and then I will found out if the length of my arms are long enough :)

The horn valves will corrode over time and tend to end up leaking air - I replaced mine not too long ago. I'm not sure the location of the compressor on the 500DA but on my boat the compressor is in the engine room and horn on the bridge roof, there is a union in the air line so the structure above the bridge can be removed for shipment - that union was one of those push-loc fittings and it also leaked; I replaced it with a standard 5/16" ferrel ring fitting and that problem is gone. What I found is the air compressor tank tends to fill with water and eventually that water ends up going through the valve which causes it to corrode and leak and causes the compressor to cycle more often which creates more water in the system; it's a self-eating watermelon. Make it a point once a year to remove the plug in the bottom of the air compressor tank and drain the water out.....
