Sea Ray vs Formula

Does anybody have any experience with these two boats? I am comparing the 31 Dancer to the 31 PC. Both are only a few years old.

I currently own a 31 sundancer. My take on the two is Sea Ray is built for comfort and some performance, and Formula is built for performance and some comfort. Does that make sense? Both are great boats...the Sea Ray is a little more comfortable and the Formula is built a little better. How's that!

Both boats do exactly what they are supposed to do and hold their value well. As someone said before...the Sea Ray is a little plusher and the Formula is a little more performance oriented. Formula's heritage, success and reputation is proof enough they are fine boats. But if cruising in comfort was my main priority I would pick a Sea Ray. Sea Ray has a knack for knowing exactly what you need and where to put it. That is why they are so poplular.

:) I have owned 4 Sea Rays over the last 18 Years. I love the boats and the way they run.
More motor is always better than just enough.
Formula makes a great boat but they are a little short on the beam compared to Sea Ray and that gives them a little more speed.

Like the other gentleman said and I think he hit the nail on the head. When you want confort go Sea Ray. when you want speed go Formula. They both are getting better all the time.

I almost bought a 41PC last year. I really fell in love with the style. Then I got on a 1995 44' Sundancer. whow what a difference both inside and out. I bought the 44.
The next time you are out on the water and in the area of a lot of boats, look at how many are Sea Rays and how many are formulas. that really tells the tale.
My buddy calls them "Tupperware" says everyone has one. I tell him there must be a reason!

From what I see the fit and finish on the formula is much better than the SR. Thats not to say the SR has a bad fit and finish. I just feel it a notch above. I agree with the others that the SR has more creature comforts. Both hold there value pretty well... It alway comes down to the same question... whick layout do you like....?? Both are high quality boats..I am on my second SR and would concider both when I move up again...

Sea Ray vs. Formula

I would tell you on comparble model years you are getting a much better boat with the Sea Ray. They get to the market faster with the good ideas and layouts. They just think better and faster in the 26' to 50' catagory than any other manufacturer. The boat will resell faster and with a better percentage of return from original purchase price. look at how many Brokers feature Sea Ray almost exclusivley in their listings.
