Does anyone know what is going on with SeaRay? I called their customer service and the message says they are closed.

I am having an electronic meltdown with my fuses and need some help.

They have their on and off weeks.

Doesn't really matter though, they layed off all the people that had half a brain.

Post the problem that you are having, maybe someone here can help.

My dash went blank for no apparent reason. I thought I blew a fuse. I went down and started looking at fuses and didn't see a problem. Then I started pressing on a fuse in and heard a beep followed by silence. I wiggled it around and brought it up about half way and everything came back on. Now when I start the engine about half the time I need to wiggle the fuse to get it going and then everything comes on. The only thing that doesn't work right now is the horn and the bilge which is a little more than disconcerting.

Since I am not on talking terms with MM and Searay is out of business, does anyone want to buy a slightly used boat? :wow:

Sounds like either a loose connection or a bad fuse. I'd replace that fuse and see what happens. Maybe the female contacts inside the fues block are sprung open a bit. Could try a pair of needle nose pliers to lightly pinch them closed a bit. Are the blades on the fuse burned at all? I had one that didn't fit tight and would arc until it carboned up the blades and then wouldn't make contact. I fixed it by squeezing the contacts together just slightly.
JMHO

more info: it is occurring in all of my fuses. I replaced the whole bunch and the problem still persists.

I am concerned, and rightly so, that one of these days I won't get it to start or worse yet the bilge won't work when I need it to.

If it's corrosion on your contacts, I've sprayed contact cleaner on them and worked them good. I've done other things on corroded contacts but never on a boats fuse box so I won't mention it in case it's harmful.

Sea Ray monitors this site and since you made fun of Marine Max (Biggest SR dealer) they probably are just ignoring you. :)

Perhaps there is a ground problem,, ie a main ground loose or corroded. Still sounds like a loose/bad connection somewhere. Probablly going to have to start at the batteries and work foreward towards the helm until you find it.

If moving the fuses seems to make things work, at least temporarily, then you probably have a connection problem at the fuse block, either where the fuse plugs in or where the wiring connects in the back of the fuse block. If the fuses have a good bit of resistance when pulling or pushing them then I would drop the fuse block and look at the wiring and connections in the back of the fuse block.

All boat manufacturers are in trouble as we know so overhead goes. A week ago Friday, Ferretti who makes, Ferretti, Pershing, Riva and CRN missed an interest payment. The had to many order cancellation on their mega yachts. I guess the slow down has effected everyone including the people with the big money.

Hey, I have lightened up considerably on the MM rhetoric. I may just have had unbelievable bad luck with them. For instance, the last time I was there for service I trailered my boat. When I picked it up they were thoughtful enough to drop it on my truck and break the tongue and bend the crank. Their response was, "Sorry about that but you should put some grease on that".

That's a fact. And because I am moving on I won't recite what happened while they were servicing the boat.

So as far as I am concerned MM doesn't exist. For those of you that have good dealers count your blessings, it's well worth it.

For me I need to DIY all of my non-engine repairs. I would think the manufacturer would have better customer service. Hey we all know the economy has taken a toll but that is no excuse for crappie customer service. If Searay says that they leave that to the dealer well then I'm stuck.

I would love to have someone from Sea Ray call me to discuss.

Having said that I have learned a mountain of things from all the nice folks here.

Have you considered MM here in Clearwater? I know it's a drive but maybe worth the trip. If you do ask for Trent (727-536-2628) in service and tell him I sent you. I'll bet you a beer that you will like the service he provides and the price on most service is competitive.

Cheers,

Thank you for the info. I have heard that people like the Clearwater shop.
