Those with Sedan Bridges and common drain headers; has anyone removed the galley sink drain line from the sump box and connected it into the common drain system?
The sink seems to be well above the common drain header and it would keep the sump much cleaner if it didn't drain into it.
    Thoughts?

I've thought of doing it but have not as of yet.

I removed mine from the sump and plumbed it overboard via a thru hull. It is a great upgrade.

Same here. But Josh doesn't count. He's not a Sedan Bridge. Ha!

Yep got a Groco 1-1/2” thru hull 90* fitting and now everything goes overboard. Great piece of mind.

Why didn't you tie into the drain header that runs down the Starboard side of the boat and exits next to the exhaust?
This is that drain header - I believe the bridge AC raw water, bridge AC pan drain, Ice Maker, bilge pump under the galley, and HW Heater relief valve drain into it - don't know what the remaining port is for....

I figured it’s a straight run overboard and it’s a stand-alone drain if something gets down the drain and causes a clog in that line it will effect the rest no?

I didn’t do it because the galley has the ‘nastiest’ stuff going down the drain. I think about coffee grounds getting into check valves and the sludge buildup from food waste. To me the cleanest install was directly overboard in a smooth walled hose. I’m sure you could do it either way but I liked that the smelly stuff didn’t have a chance to sit in a pipe or hose and is drained directly overboard.

I went straight overboard also. The common drain is on the opposite side of the boat for us 480DB owners or I would have tied into it. Either way, one of the best upgrades I've done.

Brian - my galley sink is routed to the stbd common drain from the factory. The 480’s/500’s/52’s were routed to the sump box.

Understand - the drain header is 2 1/2 Inch and on my boat I installed a Clear Ice maker so that drain port is no longer used; capped. The drain is very large for the demand on it. I just don't know how far forward it runs.

I changed my fridge and freezer so no ice maker in the galley either I believe the drain runs far enough forward to be used as you want.
One thing I have noticed outside is the white boot stripe is getting “food” staining so I need to keep cleaning that area more often that’s a disadvantage

Mine too. I am guessing that is the way all the 420/44DBs are plumbed?

Thanks, Carter. One less thing on my list, though I won't tell any of my crew since I’ve gotten them to be more attentive to what they put down the galley drain.

The gray water sump box is much further forward than the galley sink and all the food going through there... Not sure why Sea Ray thought that was the best plan.

I am doing this upgrade this winter. Have not figured out the best plan yet, either drilling new overboard drain out the Laundry Room Area as others have, also thought to increase the overboard outlet size for the Washer and add a Y-Fitting. My preference was also to tie into the main drain line.

I assumed I would tie into the exit pipe from the sump box, somewhere in the laundry area. Just haven’t had a chance to trace it back yet.

Will share more once I do.
