What would cause vessel view to give me a shift alarm after reinstalling my bravo 3? The display thinks it’s in reverse. I’m pretty sure the shift cable went in ok. I have dts and don’t know how to make it shift on land

I guess I pulled the drive out too far before releasing the shift cable and pulled the cable causing shift actuator to move to reverse. Took drive off, adjusted shift cable. Problem resolved.

I have DTS and I’ve had issues with this too when reinstalling the drive.

I think that when removing the drive the cable pulls the shift mechanism out of the drive and that allows the cable to be disengaged.

Reinstalling the drive should push the cable and shift mechanism back in but if it doesn’t go to the correct position, you’ll get that shift alarm.

There is a 2-wire switch on the plate with the shift actuator. In neutral, the button on that switch must be depressed by the arm on the shift lever. Shifting to forward or reverse moves the arm away and the button pops out.

You may not have had to remove the drive again. Next time, after reinstalling the drive, check the position of the shift arm and make sure it’s in the neutral position. Slightly Moving the arm manually may be needed to ensure the button on the switch is pushed in.

I looked at the switch and it was not in neutral. Didn’t try forcing the arm. I was worried I didn’t get the shift cable in right so chose to remove drive. Next time I’ll try moving the arm.

Sounds good. You shouldn’t have to “force” the arm to move. Just some pressure on it and it should move easily. Hope this helps you next time.
