Both of GM’s “427’s” were less than 427 c.i.

The W series based off the 409 was actually 426 c.i. (Just like the Ford).

NASCAR only allowed 427 c.i. Maximum displacement, presumably both Chevy and Ford upsized the name to match that number.

The later more common GM 427 was a tad under 427 but correctly rounded up to 427.
(This was essentially a 396/402 block with a 454 crank.)

That is exactualy right, good for u. I had both a 396 and a 409 with triples or trips. In a 55 and 57 chevy both converted from265 and 283. Not only do we have boat guys but car guys too.

The 427 shared the same crank as the 396 and had a larger bore
The 454 has the same bore as a 427 but a longer stroke crank

You started the thread and you resurrected it...now just double check you don't have a Ford engine in that Vette

I know for sure it's not a Ford engine in my Vette. I built it.. enough about cars and engines time for boats.
