My dock, ready for the Fourth.

And since we are on the outer pier, no one is behind us. Our sunset views:

Beautiful view. Do you get bounced around much due to boat traffic?
Thanks! Many evenings we just enjoy docktails and don’t even have to go out anywhere...

This is just inside the no wake zone in Baltimore’s inner harbor, so we don’t get bounced unless some ass goes by ignoring the no wake. The water police are pretty strict, so that doesn’t happen much. And the docks are floating cement docks, so they squelch a fair amount.

We dock behind the house in the winter and at the marina in the summer.
As I ponder the logistics of retiring early and buying a place on the water in FLA like you have, what do you do with your boat to keep it safe when you are back up north for the summer? I understand that boat theft/vandalism is really high in the state.

We're the first boathouse off the breakwater as well and our no-wake enforcement is pretty weak. We can get bounced around pretty good when some jerk powers in. Funny though, it's most likely a big cruiser we is a resident at our marina and probably yells at anyone who plows past his slip too fast.

It gets a light weight full mooring cover, raised in the lift as high as i can get it, then ratchet strapped to the dock (front and back) I am also lucky to have a really good full time Floridian neighbor right next door to keep an eye on it. ( I have been here 7 years and never "yet" had a problem with missing stuff)

Ours...nothing special but great access to Chicago.

Ontario has been the same. I've been in 2 weeks now and haven't gone anywhere.

Still, a nice looking harbor, even in the fog. I would rather run with a little heat on than be uncomfortably warm.

LOL! I like the Bored comment. Our water looks like yours, chocolate milk, because of all the flooding. We're getting close to having the power cut off at the dock. Memorial Day weekend is in jeopardy.

I see more pilings to the starboard side of your boat. Will more people be tying up in that spot?

It's a horrible feeling, man. We're inching closer to that.

Yeah, there's another finger dock on my starboard. The two slips on the end are for transients. Out of the 9 slips there, 6 of us are permanent.

Right around 0:20 in this vid, you'll see an aerial showing it better.

Show off your dock

I'd love to, but regretfully it is still under water.
