I noticed the shower was draining slow so I checked it after and found that it was pouring over into the center bilge and that pump was pumping it overboard . I replaced the rulematic switch , still not working . Checked the pump with 12 volts it runs. I'm thinking its a fuse but I can't find one that's blown. I have 4 wires coming to the box 2 groups of 2. Where is the fuse for this pump ? Any help

Check the float switch, just had to replace ours. Same problem

I'm assuming you have a mid to late 90s 370. I changed my shower sump a few years ago. I can't remember where the power comes from but a couple places to look are the drop down panel under the steering wheel (they are breakers in there) and on the bulk head in front of the motors in the engine room.

IIRC, two of those wires go to the indicator light in the shower stall.

Follow the wires from the sump box pump motor and look for an inline fuse....

You might want contact SeaRay to see if you can get copies of the wiring diagrams for your boat. I found that I referenced my diagrams quite often.

Hope this helps.

There is an inline fuse...
Follow the wires....

Checked where mine is located, there is a 5 amp circuit breaker marked "shower sump" on the bulkhead in front of the motors.

Same thing happened to me this weekend. Went to clean it all out yesterday after using the shower several times over the weekend and found it had filled up and the overflow was using the secondary pump. Circuit breaker on the wall in the bilge in front of the engines as John mentioned here. Mine was tripped and would not reset, so I guess I stopping at West Marine on the way home and buying a new pump. Second one if just a few season!

I have similiar problem on the 1999 270 I just bought. Under the step (from cabin to cockpit) with the trash can location I can see the sump pump and there are disconnected wires with a fuse receptacle on the end of one of them. With no manuals I am trying to figure out what size fuse to use. Any ideas?
thanks.

12 volt Rule 500: 2.5 amp fuse, 750: 5 amp, 1100: 6 amp, 1500: 10 amp

CRUZ"N - If you are replying to my question, I thank you for responding, but I do not understand the response. It is likely I do not know enough about the electronics (and a lot of other things!) to understand your reply.

Rule is the brand name of the pump and the 500, 750 or 1100 is what it pumps (model number). Look at the pump and see what model it is then pick the appropriate fuse.

Polaris, Sorry I just got back from working on the boat. In my haste this morning, I made a typo, so please go back to response # 12 to review my edit on fuses required for these particular 12 volt Rule pumps. I'm also making the assumption that you have Rule pumps and that they are 12 volts. Mine operate on 24volt, Regardless of the manufacture the pump rating, gallons per hr ( GPH ), the fuse rating will be virtually the same. If your pump label is illegible, someone with your model can chime in or call Sea Ray customer service. Good luck, Tim

I replaced my pump yesterday with a Rule 500. Wired it back up and reset the circuit breaker. The pump then pumped all the water out of the sump, so I then ran water in the shower and the box filled up and started over flowing again, even though the pump was running. After doing a little troubleshooting a found the line coming off the pump outlet to the outside of the boat was parting clogged with slime junk. I used my dock hose with a little pressure to blow the line out. I’m betting that is what caused the pump to fail; it would run and run while trying to pump against a dead head.
After a good flush and clean it all works fine now.

Hey Bill..........why did you replace the shower sump, you plan on using your shower everyday for the next 7 days or something. Some of the places we are going to have facilities.......LOL.

See ya tomorrow, can't wait.

When the circuit breaker kept tripping I was pretty sure it was the pumps fault, when I opened the box and looked at the pump I knew it was the pump! You should have seen this thing. Ever see one of these pumps swell up! It looked like a pregnant guppy!

Changed my plans for the trip, instead of coming down to BYC on Friday night, I leave GP Cove early Saturday morning. Come down to BYC and fill the tanks, hopefully I can tie up somewhere to make the Captains meeting, if not I’ll wait out in the river. See you then!
