Signed the Papers!

My Wife and I finally got to see the boat we were interested in and are convinced shes a keeper. Signed the paperwork and now just need to work out the details for survey, sea trials and transportation. The boat in question is a 2001 Sundancer 310 w/ Merc 6.2L MPI and Bravo III sterns. She has a generator and looks to be in excellent health, but I'll await the surveys to find out for sure. This is our first boat and something we've discussed over the years, so we are both really happy. We have a slip in Grand Haven, MI at the Grand Isle Safe Harbor Marina.

Sweet, good luck. That is a great power package for that boat. That era 310 had a ton of storage forward of the engines in a stern drive config.

Thanks, but the boat is actually in Iowa now. If you have contacts for there, I'm all ears. I did some research and found Robert Snow from Ebb Tide Services for a survey. The boat is in storage at Fairport Landing Marina and I was considering having them do the mechanicals. I didn't choose an easy first purchase with the boat being 300+ miles away.

I’ve contacted a few haulers and have prices ranging from $2900 to $3500 (300 miles). The one in the middle does nothing but boats and has a hydraulic trailer that can pickup off of stands and deliver by floating off the back. Saves me some possible haul in and out fees. I just have to figure out the timing so I can get the survey/trial done but still be able to drop the boat in the marina without a lot of storage fees. Not sure when things thaw enough in grand haven to safely get the boat dropped in.

Looks like a great boat. GIM normally starts splashing mid to late April.

Be prepared. The rivers can be an issue in the spring due to flooding which may affect your sea trial. You might also consider dropping in on the west side of the lake and taking it across. It may save you a few transport bucks, but as a new boater that's a pretty big "first trip." Good luck.
