My husband and I are in the final stages of becoming first-time Sea Ray owners. We are negotiating for a 2003 SR 390 Motor Yacht, which - overall - appears to be in great condition. We are getting a survey and inspection done shortly, and will work through any issues that may arise from that, however I wanted to ask about some of the cosmetic changes - and get recommendations possibly - that I'd like to start planning for.

1. The SR 390MY has a a great bow for sun pads, and the boat has the two standard, but I've seen additional sun pads for the higher part of the bow on some other boats. Is there a great place to get these?

2. The boat currently has a tan colored canvass for the Cockpit enclosure, and I'd like to change these (at some point in the future), to a navy or blue color (I'd want the sun pads mentioned above to match). Any recommendations on where I could get these ordered or made?

3. The galley refrigerator (currently a NorCold DE461) is working great (based on what the current owners have shared), but I would like to replace this and the Cockpit fridge before next summer. I've been reading on this forum about different brands that could fit in that same space, that are more efficient and larger. Any recommendations?

4. The two staterooms have the original (it seems) TV's still included, and I'm thinking of updating to more efficient (and larger) LED TVs. I've read that the Jensen brand is the best for boats (given the DC power option). Good choice? Others?

5. Internet. Our boat is going to be docked in a lake marina, and we are looking at options for Internet while out on the lake. We both work from home, and would like to have Internet in the event that we need it while we are travelling. We will be within 1 mile of shoreline on the lake at any time (less in most cases). I know not to expect Fiber speeds, but looking for recommendations on options that others have discovered. We would need to be able to run a VOIP phone system (computer based), and would like to stream Hulu or NetFlix. Current cellular provider is T-Mobile and they have good coverage around the lake. Was thinking one of the hotspot routers, but should we consider satellite?

I'm sure there will be plenty of other questions as we move into boat ownership, but I'm hopeful there are lots of opinions out there that could be shared :)

welcome!

1. Great Lakes tops makes bimini replacements for most Sea Ray boats, so you might want to check them out.

2. Any decent marine canvas shop should be able to take care if this for you.

4. Many tvs have 12V power bricks that you can just snip off and wire directly to thr boat. If you go with a tv that is advertised specifically to run on DC, you'll pay more and your choices will be more limited. I've been happy with my Axess tv which I have wired for DC.

5. If you have decent cell coverage where you boat, a cellular hotspot is the way to go. Verizon has decent hotspot routers and plans, but stay far far away from Sprint.

I'll leave the other questions for others to chime in on.
