The Holland buoy is already over 8'. The forecast is for 11'-12's today. Good times!

Since we've got the lights back you can see it's already pushing over the south pier in Grand Haven:

North buoy reported 12.8’ early today. And 12.8 is an average so many were bigger. No thank you... I’ll sit tight in the harbor with a martini and wait for 0’s any day before I’ll go out in any buoy condition over 3’.

Should be a good one tomorrow on our lake. I’m going to head up and get some pictures hopefully

I'm going to also. This is the first year we will be home for the winter since the new marina managers put in all the new docks. 50 kt winds, 20'+ waves, already high water and probably about a 6' positive seiche should be interesting.

Michigan city buoy right now:

Wind: 23.3 kts @WNW (290)
Gust: 31.1 kts
AirTemp: 36.0F
WaterTemp: 50.0F
Wave: 10.5 ft

Nothing really to report here. The worst of it was in the middle of the night so when I got down there about 8 this morning it was calmed down to about 30 mph winds and the seiche was heading back out. The place to go to get some good pictures was off limits due to the road still being closed so I headed over to the marina. It must have been really up there last night, the debris line was about 6-8' higher than the level this morning. Our jet ski dock broke in half and the outer end was swinging from the anchor chains, one of the 40' docks lost a finger and another was half broke off and one of the launch piers floated off its piling at the height of the seiche. A few trees blew over and a power pole snapped up near the road.
So a jet ski dock and 2 forty foot fingers, not bad considering there are over 1000 slips. There are still 9 boats in the water, one had a pretty bad list to one side....some people just can't let go
