Hi guys, so I purchased a 1999 Sea Ray 190CC at the end of the season last year. While doing an oil change I noticed two holes in the bilge area. One is plugged and the other is open...and yes there is water in the one that was left open. I tried to suck out and blow out as much water as I could for now. Does anyone here know what these holes were drilled in there for?

Most of the smaller SeaRays have a liner on the inside of the hull that makes up the floor, ski lockers etc and extends into the bilge area. My 185 is built the same way - the liner ends where those two plugs are and you can see how the last foot or so in front of the transome is just gelcoat. The liner is finished smooth and shiny, more so than just a gelcoat bilge. I can't say exactly what those plugs are for, but I have two just like that in my boat - there are probably more in areas you can't see. I always assumed there was some space between the liner and the hull, but figured it was filled with flotation or something. There can't be much water in there and probably like mine there is no wood in the boat except the transome. I would remove as much water as I could, let it dry good and replace the plug.

Thank you for replying. I'm happy to hear that you have the same plugs and that there shouldn't be any wood in there. I was very worried about rot. You are correct in that there wasn't too much water...maybe half a gallon max.
