Swap 4.1L I6 for?

Hello all,
I have a 1973 Sea Ray 165 with the MC1 outdrive, I got her at a auction and of course the engine has serious problems. The block has rather large crack under the exhaust/intake manifold. I have been looking for a used 4.1L and they are hard to find. Does anyone have any experience or advice on what may be an alternative engine to upgrade to? I am fine with doing the work but would like to keep it as straight of a swap as possible.

shares bolt pattern with small block chevy - any 305, 350, etc - will likely need to change forward mounts and y pipe for exhaust

You will want to watch flywheel sizes. The flywheel housings (incl rear engine mounts) for the earlier pre alpha drives don't match with the later units.

The gear ratio in your outdrive will be wrong for any V-6/V-8 engine swap.

Best bet is to find a donor boat with 4.3 and alpha gen one or better yet gen 2 and swap who,e thing pulleys to prop. You will get a hp increase (especially if you can get newer vortec engine) and newer set up
