Hello:

I received an estimate from nuteak for my tiny SR Sundancer 240 swim grid for $1100. I just installed the two new little replacement carpets for $2000!

Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative to nuteak for a stick on, faux teak decking?

Thanks!

You could try Aqua Marine Deck

My question is why this stuff is so hard to buy from non-Ebay outlets. It's all over Ebay, but you can't really find it from many mainstream regular vendors.

And the Ebay sellers seem to have kind of odd sizes -- 24" width only?

Try the Infinity Woven Vinyl. You can either use snaps like you would on a cockpit carpet, or they will install Velcro tabs on it for you if you don’t want to mess with snaps.
I’ve had mine for 2 seasons now and it still looks as good as it did the first day I got it. I like being able to pick it up when I’m doing engine or other maintenance tasks so that it doesn’t accidentally get an oil or grease stain on it.
I got the faux teak, but they have lots of other choices too.

JVM...what thickness padding did you get and do you like it ?

I got their regular backing and I love it. They didn’t have the faux teak style we wanted in the thicker Aqua Trac when I ordered it two years ago.
I was leaning towards having the glued down faux teak installed when I first bought the boat, but decided agains spending close to 5k on something that permanent.
I was particularly concerned with having to deal with an oil or grease stain in the glued down stuff if that should happen.
This Infinity stuff looks sharp and cleans up really easy. I usually just use the same bucket of boat soap and soft brush on it that I wash the boat with. It dries pretty quick too.
If I’m going to be working in the bilge I pull it up, and then put it back down when I’m done.

There’s an entire thread here dedicated to the eBay stuff. Lots of satisfied customers on this forum. The quality seems great but it’s a touch on the DIY labor intensive side.

I went with SeaDek. Great price and nice customer service. I found a company in Seattle to install it properly. I had to pay extra to have the faux teak planking run fore/aft instead of port to star...well worth it.

What are your thoughts on underwater lights?

Check out Defender they are still on sale...

As a point of reference, I just got a bid from Aquamarine for my 02' 310. They already have the pattern and quoted me $1900 + shipping. This includes the entire cockpit deck, the raised helm, and the swim platform.

Another point of reference on the eBay foam - it's about $40 a roll currently. You should be able to do most platforms with two rolls, three max. I did my upper and lower with three rolls with half a roll left over and a handful of mis-cuts/scrap. The entire cockpit...maybe 5 or 6 rolls? Still in the sub $300 range.
