ttmott did a great write up on how to replace this antiquated monitor and replace with an up to date NMEA 2000 one. No reason to mess with resistors and leds.

2000 without transmission lights.
2200 with transmission lights.
The Maretron RIM100(2) and DSM410 only cost's ~$1200 and you get a display that can display any NMEA2000 data point.
Are you making these yourself? If so, what about the control box that they plug into?
