Just purchased mine and I was thinking about what might look best, and I didn't know if stain was a good idea

Need some more details. Interior or exterior? Current finish?
How much annual work, or expense are you willing to commit to?

We have exterior teak decks treated with oil, teak interior decks coated with gloss polyurethane and teak exterior trim coated with 9 coats of varnish. The interior is the exception requiring no maintenance other than cleaning. The oiled teak and varnished require annual work, and every five to ten years need to be nuked back to clear wood and recoated. I’m having our toe rails and eyebrows done this winter with stripping to bare wood and then nine coats of epifanes.

Exterior toe rail. This inside the storage building at about coat 6. Inside lighting does not do it justice.

It’s all a matter of how much work, or money you want to invest.

Hi yours look great! Mine is exterior like is the first picture. How long does yours stay looking new like that after oil? What donyoubdo annually to it? Clean and reapply the oil? Thank you for the pictures yours looks great

The exterior decking was washed with a floor wash specific to teak oiled deck. Process is basically wet deck with water, apply cleaner and using a sponge mop scrub the deck, then hose off with clean water. After deck dries, oil with teak oil.

I used a kit from West Marine, just because I was there and they had it. I would suggest products specifically for decks, as teak oil for furniture may not have the best results. When I did our deck it was when we first got the boat. It still looks fine. I have to re oil our teak deck furniture every year, so that suggests deck oil is different.

Be sure to dispose of oily rags in a safe manner. One time I happened on a rag that had been waded up and stashed in an out of the way place. When I picked it up later it was very hot.
