Thank You SeaRay/Four Seasons for the trip of a lifetime!

Well, Aloha....I'm usually on that volcano this time of year, but took a detour....

What a fantastic story, and congrats...The Four Seasons, while way out of the way, is one of the nicest properties on Oahu...Personally, I think one of the best places for sunsets...

I've been to that marina and thought about leaving a boat there. Very nice...And FYI, Ellison usually keeps his vessel there.

While true, the swells pick up in the winter, the south side is usually tame....North shore, not so much...Perhaps you had an opportunity to drive up there? What was your route / destination when you were on the SR?

The waters out there are no joke...You're in a 1000'+ water soon after you leave the channel...
Thanks! We were there at the end of October. We did drive to the North shore and those waves were really nice! Not sure what was going on but the streets were packed with cars and we saw some local TV crews out there too. As far as the boat trip goes we left the Marina and headed North past Electric beach and ended up at some small town. I can’t remember the name, but the boat captain told us it was the birth place of surfing on the island. Here’s a picture maybe you’ll recognize it? And yes the Sunsets were amazing at the resort. Pictures don’t do it justice. BYW, I’ve always noticed Oahu in your signature and have always been a bit jealous of you. ;)

I'd like to add in case anyone anyone is interested in visiting Oahu that everyone we encounterd at Four Seasons were simply amazing. We never experienced service like that anywhere! But this was our first time at a Four Seasons, so maybe it's the norm. We miss it. Wish it wasn't so far away.

@Bridog , That's a little early in theseason, but it could have been a surf contest...My recommendation, next time, (See what I did there? haha) is to get out and ask what going on....Sadly, because of all the tourists, traffic is becoming a daily occurrence and is pitting residents against tourist due to the harassing of turtles on a specific beach...There was some news about it around Oct.

That trip around the west side sounds nice. By your picture, does the town Makaha sound right? Because that's Makaha for sure...I've surfed that break (small day)...West side is very "local" but really pretty areas and great sunsets.

Bro, no need to be jealous at all....It's where I was born...I'm Kama'aina and you can always visit the islands.... Though you set the bar very high if the Four Seasons was your first time...

Out islands are great too and worth a view, but I'm partial to Oahu since it has a bit of everything to offer. It gets a bad rap, but I'm ok with it....I always tell people that say they don't want to go because it's too crowded that they are right and to go to Maui! Haha...They're happy and I'm happy.

Aloha

BTW- Did you check the depth of the water you were cruising in?!! You should have seen some spinner dolphins...A little early for the humpbacks but maybe.... I love seeing the humpbacks playing off Haleiwa....

Yes, Makaha...that's it! I wasn't really paying attention to the depth but at some point when it started getting dark the captain took over saying it wasn't too deep where we were at. Maybe that was just his way of saying I'll take over the 800K boat now, you go enjoy your wine. :) Sad to hear about the turtle issues. We have similiar issues here. We stopped at Turtle Bay resort and checked it out while we were at the North Shore. We were thinking of staying there for a couple days if we ever do go back.

Turtle Bay is an excellent place to stay for a vacation. They have revamped it and are looking to expand. (The residents are not thrilled)...Depending on the time of year you can get great sunsets and a little less formal vibe...It's the only game in town on the north side and a bit of a hike to get back to town. But, if you just want to chill, it's hard to beat.

How did you like the way the SR handled the Pacific?

The boat handled the waves just fine. A little spray here and there, but no big deal. It actually didn’t feel like being on an open bow boat at all. Except for all that extra seating up front. That was where we spent most our ride enjoying the views!

I really can’t say enough good things about the whole experience in general. The way SR handled the greeting, the travel plans, and how we were were treated at the Four Seasons. Unbelievable!

Congrats on your winning the contest and great write up.
I entered the contest also but obviously did not get the call that you got.

Congrats on that trip. How nice is that!! My wife and I won a trip to Hilton Waikiki Beach compliments of Microsoft a few years back. We loved it. My wifes most favorite vacation. Beautiful Hawaii!

I’ve never won anything big.
We spent 10 days in Waikiki in late January. It was a fantastic trip! We should have stayed there!
Beautiful place, great people, gorgeous beach, fantastic weather and we did some pretty cool tours around the island.
