Show us your springtime shine!
Everyone’s got a favorite compound, polish and wax. Show us what you DIY’rs did for this season.

I’ll go first. Got the compound done. Polish and wax are next.
Call me the Armfather after today ugh!

No shine yet…. My son who schedules our business said if I work Friday, Saturday and Sunday…. I could have Monday off:rolleyes:….. so I went down to the boat today. Got some canvas off to be repaired and had a beer on the back:)

you Catawba guys need to check out Dubberts. This is my first year and I couldn’t be more impressed with the facility, the price…. Just everything.

I have a way to go on compounding …. Hopefully mid March. Getting a bit nervous as I am usually done by now but a bit too busy at work

I don't have time this year. I need to find a good detailer that doesn't want $35/foot.
I broke down this year and had Dubberts do the white from rub rail up….. it was $42/ft….. and that was a storage discount  …. I will do the blue as I don’t mind it

Glad I'm in Southwest Missouri. I just found two shops that will come to the boat. Wash and wax from 6" above the rub rail to the keel for $14/foot. Compound, wash and polish for $21/foot. :)

Nice looking facility.

Pay the $35 a foot...

I had three half ass f***wit detailers that all came highly recommended leave me totally disappointed this year before I finally ponied up like I should have in the first place

Presta.
I went with the supercut as I wanted to really get the luster back this year.
I like the presta stuff as it has no silicone in it. Abrasives are diminishing in their product.
Shouldn’t need that heavy cut in the following years if I keep wax on it. I’ll follow up with their ultra polish to take out any fine scratch swirls. Last the collinite arm building 885 fleetwax paste.

just my $0.02 if you can’t get the thing to luster with compound no other products will make it better.

we rep Presta for Marine .. we are booming with the Presta Max complete.. and then Hydro protek

I finished my below-rubrail work just this past weekend. This is my first time using the Smoove products. The wax left some marks behind that I was not pleased with. I think/hope it's due to low temperature in the building and not the product. I'm going to hit it lightly with a buffer when I return, hoping that resolves all issues.

Now on to the hard part...above the rub rail....

I did above rub rail last year….. never again…. paid someone this year

I put smoove on with an orbital and take off with a micro fiber. No problems…. Something isn’t right with your situation ….temp isn’t going to make a difference unless it’s freezing
Did you use bubble gum before cloud?

I did use the polish first. The finish was almost perfect after the bubble gum. I hand applied the wax (white cloud) and in some areas it left marks in the motion I was applying. Not like swirl marks, like big marks. I assumed it wasn't fully drying but 90% of it removed perfectly. It was a bit disheartening.

The facility I'm in is barely above 40 degrees. Hence my comment on temp....but maybe I have something else going on, unfortunately.

I used to love to compound/wax my boats. Mostly for the enjoyment/reward, but also because of the costs. As I have gotten older, and achier with nagging elbow/back/knee pain, and have the funds, this is one I gladly give to the shop now.

I’m getting to that point too. The admiral helps and doesn’t mind so we’re still doing it but I don’t know how much longer.
I won’t see my boat until sometime in April, I do the rv.
There’s a detail service that is doing a bunch of rv’s in the park we are in now, $12/ ft wash, wax and all windows. Shows up with his own truck and trailer, 100 gallon tank of softened water, completely self contained. Really drives home the point that anything “boat” is just ridiculously priced.
My truck gets driven through Tommy’s Express and I use an automotive wash and wax on the 5th wheel followed by boat wax (maguires) I do a little at a time when I feel like it.

So what does this snake oil do that the other products don’t? Where does it fit?
