I was born and raised in the Phoenix area. Lake Powell always seemed so far away with Lake Pleasant 20 minutes from our house.
Now that I'm appx 20 hours away, we've been there twice on houseboat rentals. I sure missed a lot back in the day, it's beautiful there.

JC, thanks for providing that link. Interesting historical facts and I'm amazed by the tenacity of the pioneers of that time. We gripe because the air conditioning doesn't keep us cool enough.
