On the other hand, detailers just finished entirely buffing/waxing her top to bottom. Costs me $1200 every 6 months to preserve best in the industry gelcoat (Sea Ray of our vintage) told to me by several boat detailers btw. So, 2 years cost me $4800 vs wrap cost, like $7000. So, couple grand more, new look. Mmm.
I would guess you would still be either waxing or ceramic coating the wrap and the gelcoat regularly.

Looking good! I had to try to remember my Latin classes from high school to translate. :)
Just a helpful hint for you. If your picture ends up posting sideways, all you need to do is edit it. I usually just crop it a little. I don't know why CSR has this issue, but you will get used to it. o_O

Not sure I like the hull wrap. Maybe had to grow on me. I see plenty dark hull boats, blue mainly, and for some looks quite jazzy, cruisers & trawlers. Our model doesn't have much elevation above the gunnel, so the hull overwhelms as a dark color. Also seen jet black Darth Vader type boats I don't like. Saw a 32' aqua color hulled boat, looked really elegant. So, for me, maybe it's just the very dark color. Quick lookup on this 3M vinyl wrap in a YouTube, says at the end, couple yrs life in Florida.

I don't think I would go dark, or even solid color. I would go solid wrap to negate the polishing, especially below the rub rail.

My admiral has some ideas in mind, will be interesting to see if they can do a mock up.

I was able to communicate with Tony about his amazing 450. Turns out he is the owner of #2, built in January of 1998! Super cool guy. Hopefully we can get around this problem he has signing up with CSR.

The wrap doesn't require wax, just a detail spray or similar. Much lower maintenance. Any exposed gel coat still would need polish though. The upper hull has never been a challenge for me; it is the lower hull that just sucks. So, I pay for that and it still doesn't look amazing after just a few weeks.

Even if we kept some white on the lower hull I want to see if it can be white vinyl.

I tried to adjust it and got frustrated with it!

My 2 oldest picked the name as they are taking Latin class in HS. SAL AQUA VITAE = Salt Water is Life. Plus sounds nice when you sat it!! :)

If you are using MS Windows -
  1. Open the pic with Microsoft Office (Right Click on the picture file then click on "Open With" then select "Microsoft Office")
  2. Using the Rotate button in the top menu rotate the picture as you would like to see it.
  3. Then in the menu bar click on "Edit Pictures".
  4. In the Right edit bar click on "Crop"
  5. Handles will appear on the picture on the four corners and each side.
  6. Click on the handle and drag the bottom side up and/or the top side down. Not much is needed.
  7. Click "OK" in that side menu then save your picture.
Done!

Thanks for the help! I was posting from my phone prior to heading into work :-( I will have to play around with pics on my phone prior to posting next time!

ttmmott, Where are you on the Space Coast? I'll be there in late Aug for work pending schedules! Love it down there!

My only experience with a vinyl wrap was about 12-13 years ago. I had a 1985 4Runner wrapped to resemble the Van Halen guitar. Hopefully the technology is better now, but back then after 3 years it was showing some age and I sold the truck. A couple years later the new owner sent me a few pictures and the wrap was faded badly.
When I owned it:

Btw, I think there are apps to use an image, outline the boat hull, and snap in a color. Sherwin Williams has one for home interiors I used about 7 yrs ago to achieve the look we wanted on a wall and a tray ceiling. Maybe such apps can also paste in artwork. Call it "hull-art"!
