The "virus" What are your thoughts

Same laws in US. Except we didn’t just outlaw it. That price gouging during disaster/emergency is law of our land.

Unfortunately we have outlaws that care more about money than their neighbor.

Nothing new.

EVERYONE at GM took a haircut. The retieries didn't lose their pensions or benefits. They were reduced but still amazing.
The people, that lost from GM where the Preferred Stock holders. Obama zeroed those out and we all lost. If bankruptcy had occurred the Bond holders and the Preferred Stock holders would have been fine (as they buy for that protection). I will never buy a GM again for that BS. They broke every rule/law and screwed so many.

In the end I think it'll help Trump in November. The constant word games/got ya's are so obvious, even the slow learners are catching on after 4 years of this constant BS.

CNN and MSNBC have started to censor him. They aren’t covering the entire press conferences.
If they cover the whole press conferences and let people see all that he is saying and the context in which he is saying it then it becomes too hard for them to cherry pick words to form a narrative that they want to promote.

Just got back from our "seniors hours" at the local food mart. They are now temporarily waiving the NY bag law because they don't want people bringing their reusable bags from home into the grocery stores. They are putting the groceries in plastic bags again.....and not charging for them!

As a boater, that’s one of the tree hugger laws that I actually agree with. You’d be amazed at how many plastic bags I pull out of the water throughout a season.
When I first bought my boat and brought it home to Long Island there were no South Bay Strainers on it.
I had them installed pretty quickly, but not before fishing a few plastic bags out of the raw water intake strainer baskets.
We have a lot of low lying areas down here and when the tide gets really high a lot of crap goes in the water.

I heard this theory about a month ago. One of the theories was that the bats, after being tested in a lab, where then sold in a wet market by an employee trying to make some extra cash. I'm not sure if you can open this link or not. This is from Tucker Carlson last night.

JV, Are the drive up test sites still operating down state?
I know we are the red headed step child at this end of the state, but after reading this in the paper this morning, I would hope that things are being distributed as absolutely necessary. I get that we all just need to act like we are infected, but this sounds a little out of wack to me.

(cut n paste from the Buffalo News)
"The Erie County Public Health Laboratory, which also tests on behalf of other counties in the region, received enough testing materials early last week to run about 350 additional tests, after having run out of testing materials the week before.

New testing protocols also reflect a strategic shift: Public health officials are no longer trying to identify and isolate every individual case of Covid-19. Instead, they're favoring strategies to slow the inevitable spread of the virus to keep hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities from becoming overwhelmed. So the county's lab is testing only people who meet the following conditions:

  • Health care workers and those posing risks to health care workers, including patients with Covid-19 symptoms.
  • Individuals living in "vulnerable" group facilities, including nursing homes, correctional facilities and group homes.
  • Members of law enforcement.
  • Women who are close to giving birth or have recently given birth who show Covid-19 symptoms.
The county generally will not test members of the public already in quarantine with mild illnesses, those with known confirmed exposure who do not have underlying conditions or are not severely ill, and people who are mildly ill who do not live in a group.

Many private doctors also cannot test all the people who want a test if their symptoms do not line up with the primary symptoms associated with Covid-19, such as a fever of 100.4 or greater and coughing/shortness of breath.

There simply are not enough specimen collection kits to test as many people who want to be tested. Those who do are sending many of their samples to private labs like Quest or LabCorp.

Even if you tested positive, there are no approved pills, shots or other medication that a doctor can give you to make you well. If your symptoms are not severe, you would want to treat it the way you would treat a cold or flu without medication – keep away from others, get rest, drink fluids, etc"

Also today, it looks as though the it's catching up with the younger folks that disregarded it earlier. Erie county (western NY state) is reporting over 50% of confirmed cases are those under 50 years of age, and the greatest percentage of those are people in their 30's.
There were large numbers of them that partied hard on St Patty's day. That was before the restaurants and bars closed, but advisories were coming into being to stay home. Most older folks here did not go out, and the parades had already been cancelled.

We are basically 10 days after NY's stay at home orders (as well as many others). The 97 percentile is symptoms in 11.5 days. So if these orders are working, we should start to see a decline in infections.

I'm of the opinion that schools today want to pressure students toward a liberal thinking more than they want to just teach the basic 3-R's.

With the thousands and thousands of schools pushing that crap into the little heads of millions of students every day, right leaning people don't stand a chance.

That is true. In Canada the teacher's unions carry a huge amount of power and a lot (not all mind you) have a liberal mindset and convey that in teaching. Most naive and idealistic kids latch on to that pretty easily. That is probably a good thing. Then once they grow up and start working and paying taxes, they will shift center or right, but retain some of the ideals that matter as humans sharing the same rock.

This is why all our kids went to private school. Our 17 year old goes to prep but his school is now all online till rest of the year.

I’m considering him doing his senior year online.

With a major in Nationalism and a minor in the rest of world stuff....I will not debate on things that require a lot more brain power than I possess, BUT as an American and a Veteran, it concerns the beejeezers out of me that one little village in a foreign country can whip up a biological potion, and bring the mighty US of A to our knees. Now hearing that the USS Roosevelt is infected, and all testing positive are removed from the ship. That is a US Warship and it's fleet, who are our Pacific defense system..now running with a less than full crews....Country down and Military crippled, and not nary a shot fired. NO, I am not saying this was intentional by any means, but we just showed the world how vulnerable we are. And that's even with the strongest military ever to exist on the planet. I hope this is not the new Warfare.....because it worked, damnit!

Stay safe Carter!
